HOWEVER, to another person, it all sounds like fucking pikey disco, so...

Yeah, I used to think all fans of the more dance-based stuff weren't really into music, which I now know was utterly ignorant tosh. It's just a completely different approach to appreciating and interacting with music.

Still, I'm often tempted to throw 'Shut up and listen to fucking Whitehouse' into some of the music-based threads. Don't know why...

speed garage night it is then? those examples of psy/goa were horrible i have listened to psy on a decent funktion 1 rig in the sunshine on acid and it's still shit IMO. The psytrancers are no longer in power here, let the genre wars commence!

SPEED GARAGE

I'd be up for going to a bassline/speed garage night, its finding one that's the problem! Also the amount of chavs it attracts.

ANything that isn't drum & bass (although I love drum & bass, it is attracting more and more wankers to all the nights I go to...whyyyyy :'( ) or any kind of cheesy dance music would be OK I reckon.

Reggae/dub would be great - easy chilled vibes, nothing too hectic or pretentious, or some live hip hop.

Ideally I'd like some dubstep - not the nasty, dirty, or generic stuff, some good and proper ganja smoking stuff, but too many people don't like dubstep...so that wouldn't be a good suggestion...
Would love to meet a whole bunch of the crazy fuckers in here though, have spoken to the US lot in the Lounge more than any of the UK lot in EADD.

GOA Trance is what psytrance originates from - this is an example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gRCsUVEkCgQ

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n1r15qSgDAo - This is a pretty decent dark psy track in my opinion although it would be much better through some proper speakers (rather than my built in laptop ones) and a few tabs of lsd.

My only complaints about psytrance are some of the voice samples used in tracks are incredibly cheesy and poor (on psychedelics they tend to just make me laugh) and some tracks can be very samey, although I find this with the likes of Hardstyle also at times.

I have some proper speakers so I'll give it a listen... so far shit typical psyshit.

I can never listen to psy at home, on drugs or not, but I do enjoy it at one of the nights with all the colours and hippies, not my top genre by a long shot but I have always had a great time at psy nights

everyone should come to the Rephlex records party a week tomorrow in London, sorted :)
