I use the 65, 70, and 75 lbers without a spotter...with a spotter i could throw up more, obviously....

When deadlifting I always let the weight come completely down but make sure it doesn't bounce (that's cheating!). I deadlift about every 5 days. I could send you my workout journal if you'd like to see exactly what I've been doing. Just PM me.

My other major lifts are progressing well.
Yesterday I hit a new PR on bench - 315x4 and DB press 140 pound dumbbells x5
Squat the best I've done is 315x10 ass to grass
Stiff Leg Deadlift 315x9
Incline DB Press 110 pound dumbbells x4 reps
Decline Closegrip Bench 315x4

I focus almost ALWAYS on reps. Deadlift is the only thing I go to max on.

I think 600 will be next time. I think I could have had it today but was so amp'd about hitting 585 that I didn't wanna risk a failure haha.

For some reason I just feel strong as hell lately.

new PR.

How do you go about your reps????? It seems like they fluctuate a lot...585 is ridiculous man...Start doing cardio and get into a fucking competition.

Not sure what you mean..

Lately I've been focusing on doing the following:
225x10
315x10
405xjust enough to warm up
495xfailure (maybe 8 now)

this is how i get growth, work on form, etc. eventually I'll be doing 585 for reps once I have 495x10 accomplished

this particular time i went in knowing i was trying to hit 585 so i made sure i didn't exhaust myself with reps but still got a good stretch on some early sets of 3s, 2s, and 1s.

While my max has increased substantially I feel that it isn't jumping around its that I've finally found what works for me (the rep scheme I outlined above). By pushing for 495x4 then 495x5.. etc.. (now 495x8 i hope) i increase my max each week without actually having to hit it.

hope that makes sense.

i've been doing cardio / abs for the last week and i'm now at 261 with falling body fat. I could definitely compete at the ametuer level - my legs are very good size and most ameteurs have no legs.

4/17/8
deadlift 225x8 315x8 405x8 495x1 545x1 600x1

new PR. was actually fairly easy =)

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!! FUGGIN NICE!!!

lol, we're gonna have a pro on the board, sweet! Damn that's huge!! What are you weighing again?

262 lbs at 6'4"

the weight is flying up lately. feels like i can add 10 lbs to my max each week lol

4/23/8 domination 261 lbs
deadlift 225x8 315x8 405x4 495x2 545x1 585x1 605x1

new PR

You might want to look into amateur strongman competitions. If you're in the states, this is the main organization that runs such events:

http://nastrongmaninc.com/

A 605 deadlift should definitely be strong enough to make a respectable showing on the amateur level. There's a group of local strongmen that I've trained with a couple times (flipping giant tires, picking up stones, etc.) and it can really be fun. Very cave-man like, it's gratifying to be using your entire body at its limits. :) There's no money in it at the amateur level, but I think you'd enjoy it; it's much more interesting than powerlifting or Olympic lifting.

just a note - if you do look into powerman stuff, you'll want to change up your training asap. Doing a bb/pl routine isn't sufficient for strongman competition - your strength will help undoubtedly, but you're (as far as I know) only used to controlled movements, a finite number of them at that. Throwing in some *heavy* medicine ball (I used to just make them w/ sand bags lol) work, doing car pushes and stuff like that, would be a good start to down that path. Could always consider just competing in powerlifting on the big 3, since you're nailing those #'s, and those competitions should be far more common than strongman comps.
