UH oH, Basic favorite exercise Thread!?

deadlifts 315x8 405x6 495x5 545x1 x1 x1 495x1 x1 405x1 315x1

3 singles of 545 today. not bad.. I think I'll do another week of reps to push for 495x6, then go for 565 or 575 the following week. almost to 600..

Deadlift 225x10 315x10 (belt) 405x4 495x6 545x1 (no belt) 565x1

=)

495x6, new best. 565 went up easily.

just out of curiousity, when you went for your heavy single on that session, why did you choose to go with 565 instead of 570? You nailed 565 last time, do you like to wait until you *know* you can hit a new pr? sorry that may not've said what I wanted to, let me rephrase - do you regularly try for new maxes that you miss? Just surprised to see you going for another 565 instead of the 70..

oh man, i just had 2 do some catching up. working throwin packages off 18wheelers all day totally killed my work out schedule, 565 is pretty schweet though!

You might laugh but I have OCD.. adding a 2.5 lb thing to each side would just throw me off LOL.. I only like to work with 45, 35, 25, 10, 5 lb weights on each side.. try to make it as systematic as possible! Thats why I simply work for reps at 495 til I feel I can make a new max, then I attempt it. For example if I manage 495x7 one or two times I'll feel confident I can hit 485. Then I'll work for more reps to push it to 595.. etc

as an aside - the only time in awhile that I've failed something is when I tried 585 the other day. I was pretty sure I wouldn't have a chance, just wanted to get an idea of what it felt like I guess. I rarely fail.. don't like the way it feels haha.

Oh and I was going through my book just to see how much progress I've made and I found, january 15 2007 I had hit a new deadlift max - 405 lbs.

To think how far I've come in 14 months is incredible to me. I've added 160 lbs to my max and can probably rep 405x14.

If I can pull 725 14 months from now that'd be awesome.

believe it or not but 2.5s could create better gains. I hear the OCD thing but you might not be able to actually see them while ur lifting, check it out something if u ever feel the need & report bak.

Also, would 405 require 2 2.5 weights?

I see! I definitely understand where you're coming from, as long as you're keeping a real close eye on your lower rep sets you shouldn't really miss much/anything for new maxes.

so in theory how efficient of a work out is moving mainly 10-70lb objects and an occasional 100+ all down off a truck 4hours+ 5days a week, havent been lifting but noticing some pretty nice gains, drink Mmilk b4 and after.

If you have built a solid frame...It all comes down to your macros i.e protein, carbs, fats....

Analien...how long have you been lifting? your stats are ridiculous...ever consider competing as a new job or hobby?

My workout today (Chest/Triceps) was unbelievable...just one of those days where you feel like your grip alone will break through the fucking weights...hope the rest of the week's workouts are similar!!

I've been lifting 18 months and 11 days. I might compete someday.

As an update, I pulled 570 today. Also did 500 for 5 reps.

The furthest my written records go back is to 12/29/06.. I started a few months prior to that.

Here's some lifts:
Dumbbell Shrugs 100 lbs 150x10
Incline Bench 135 atleast 275
Dumbbell Bench 80 pounders 140x5
Deadlift 255x4 500x6 and 570x1
Clean and Press 125x2 225 or so
Trap bar shrugs 225 no idea.. a LOT
SLDL 205 400+

bold is what I can do now on these lifts

deadlift new PRs today:

495x7
575x1

=)

WOW.. how many days a week do you DL? It seems like you do it all the time...my lower back would be immensely sore after lifting even half that weight....

Do you let the weights touch the floor and lift from a grounded position every rep or do you just lower the bar to ankle level?

On heavier DL's, I have to let it smack the fucking floor...then again my max deadlift is 225...8 months ago my max was 135

aanallein does not count as a real human, he does not use drugs :-P

My personal best for dead is 505, but i did not lock out on it so 475 is still my "technical" best. This is my favorite lift for sure.

My bench has fallen though, I can now only barely get 265, I used to get 285 easy.

my 18 year old brother throws 315 up like its a balloon. asshole. he also has squated 455 deep, but on the way up pulled a muscle in his back and had to dump it. He got 425 previous to it. the boy is a fucking iron horse. he doesn't even work out biceps, and can curl 135.

the boy has more polish in him then i do, lucky bastard. he's a young mariusz.

Impressive lifts.....I've increased my strength admirably since I started bodybuilding about a year ago, and there are always certain exercises that your body was almost made to perform....

I can curl heavy ass dumbells and do countless dips all day, but throw me on a flat bench, and I can only do 2 plates on each side max...I have longer arms and my "benching muscles" just aren't as strong as other peoples'.

Doesn't it frustrate you when you sit across from a highschool football player repping out 315 like it's nothing, while youre struggling to rep 225? And I hit the gym 6 days a week...I need to start increasing my bench this week...I always neglect spotters, which is a dumb idea..I know enough people in my gym who would be more than willing..It's the only way to increase your bench...

I must say...since this is the "favorite exercise thread" my current fav exercise day is Monday, which is chest/triceps....Dumbell chest presses are my new favorite exercise!

well, it would frustrate me, but I am bigger then him, and stronger in different ways. some of us are just not good at benching, or certain exercises. my core is weak as i never work it, so i am sure that plays into it.
