UH oH, Basic favorite exercise Thread!?

- for your joints, are you making sure to get proper fat content in your diet as well as omega3's (fishoil is a good source)?
- how bad of a drop in test is there really from opiates, I cannot imagine it's that significant but am pretty ignorant in that area.
- about no endorphins for up to 6mo after a heavy opiate cessation, does that also hurt the lifter's high? I see you left that out and only mentioned the pain, if it also affects the lifter's high then that's interesting because the last I read about that subject had me thinking the lifter's high is *not* just some endorphin rush, but rather a very complex, multi-neurotransmitter play going on for that sensation. God I wanna go deadlift just talking about this, had to put my gym in storage for a few weeks today!!! AHHH!!!!!
 
^^^Drop in test levels from opioid abuse can be rather pronounced, the severity of which I would imagine is a function of the consistency and dosing of the opioid. With prolonged and high dosing it can even result in an almost full blown hypogonadism, although this is probably more common with purely synthetic drugs like fentanyl and methadone, as opposed to heroin (though entirely possible). I was taking a whole host of compounds, but when i stopped my serum test levels increased by ~350-400% (in a matter of 2 months). This is actually quite common when heavy opioid abusers cease using, and is often referred to as an "excessive horniness" after the withdrawal period.

And yes, i forgot to note about the "high" associated with heavy lifting, which i think is probably diminished because of the lack of endorphins, but like you mentioned it is far more involved than just a simple endorphin response (involving numerous neurotransmitters and probably some other mechinisms not yet well understood)...
 
personally on a really good lifting day I'd compare the rush I get to a very intense ecstasy high.. both mental and physical.. but I listen to extremely loud techno and usually take 200mg of caffeine pre-workout so I've got a very heavy flashback sensation going on

I even get the jaw/eye thing going on if I get REALLY into my work out. I hope nobody in the gym notices lol but I could give a fuck to be honest. I'm somewhat of a spectacle there these days especially on back day

Redline is too strong for me lol. 150-200 mg caffeine is my max. Redline has like double that
 
anyone have some favorite deltoids exercises to share? mine are probably the following

speed bag
arnold press
that one where u lay ur stomach on the bench
standard military presses.
and the rest i suppose, its just mad hard to really get them a good work out, i get good results but i wanna feel the tear if u know what i mean.
 
seated slow military presses, side cable raises, hammer strength machines, and front bb raise super set with front stiff arm cable pushdown..

that's all I do for shoulder work and lately my shoulders are exploding

i do heavy bb shrugs for traps
 
ha redline is awesome!!!! Wow I used to go through so much of that from the drink, pills, etc. Aanallien, if my memory serves it's not that the caffeine is that high (I mean it is probably in the high 100's-mid200's range), but it has other stimulants in it, iirc stuff like yohimbine.

And I know the 'rolling' feeling you mention but c'mon, that's not close to any real roll! I mean, it's amazing in its own light, but it ain't the same!!!

standing barbell presses and scarecrows are my favs, I think they're called scarecrows (basically a reverse fly, your hands start with dumbells or cables in front of you, at the end of the move your arms are up like a jesus basically =D , it's a rear delt move).

That's why i make a bottle into 2 sometimes 3 servings....

My fav shoulder exercises are doing front raises with a 45lb plate....my shoulders are the biggest asset to my physique...

I have gained 20 lbs in 10 months and havent taken more than 4 days off of training in a year!!!!!!!!

I can get pretty close lol. jaw chattering, eyes rolling back, hands shaking.. can barely see straight. all while sober. =P been 6 yrs too
 
NO SHIT!! Well, good to know that shit's never ever gonna go away, 6yr!? Damn I wish I could get it that intense w/o it, I mean I can get partially there but never that close. But wow, 6yr and still afters, are the other annoying after effects still there? I can still *constantly* see crap out of the corner of my eyes if I relax them, and if I'm really hungry and really tired, it's pretty much anything in my vision field that's not dead center that'll start having issues (moving, shit that's not there, etc). Heh it was sooo worth it tho still ;)

current max is 555.. trying to get to 600 by the end of the year.



495x7 according to this chart corresponds to a max of 604. I think I'll work on reps til I'm able to do that, then go for some new maxes (565 and 575 should be easy by then).

I'm doing the same for squats right now too. 315x9 was easy the other day. I'll try to reach 365x8 as a short term goal.
(this is ass to grass, not to parallel)

I'm trying to get to 265 lbs solid body weight. I fluctuate around 255 but I don't drink nearly enough water and should really be eating about 1-2k more cals/day.
 
i say we get a BL elite fighting team together & then we could all head over to the shroomery or any other semi-alike forum and mess/PWN those suxors up!

aanallien - totally with ya on deep squats; to anyone else who's a parallel-at-minimum type squatter, does it piss you off when you're in a public gym seeing people using your weight or higher but doing those 3" range of motion squats!? Fuckers..
