It's been a bit over a week since I last smoked with friends. When I smoke I normally have a little, just to feel a buzz, not to feel like a total wreck. Beforehand, I smoked for about a month, once or twice a week during weekends, never alone. Before this pattern has started, I haven't had weed in about half a year or longer. I don't really like the effects of it, but did it anyway to try to have a good time. Anyway. Since I started smoking, I've been getting muscle spasms and twitches. I notice this when I try to sit still and relax. Sometimes I even get a zap, causing my leg or arm to move slightly. I'd say it happens every few minutes, and hasn't stopped since I last had weed. I'm pretty certain that weed is responsible for what I'm currently going through, so now I wonder, how common is this problem amongst smokers? My friend gets the shakes and twitches while he's high, but I haven't asked if the problem is persistent. I remember this happened last time when I had weed, a long while ago, then the symptoms slowly disappeared. Is there anything to be worried about? Is this worth mentioning to the doctor?

I live a healthy lifestyle, workout 4-5 times a week, and take vitamins daily.

I'm not planning on smoking any time soon again, might even give it up all together if I get the job I'm applying for.

Thankssss

well i get those twitches and spasms while im high but not really when im not, i dont think its something that you would need to mention to your doctor but hey its better than what i get now which is panic attacks sometimes when i get real high its HORRIBLE

This happened to me last night when I was trying to go to sleep, like 4-5 times

I only get muscle spasms from too much caffeine, not usually weed by itself unless my eating habits were off...

Make sure you are hydrated and getting enough protein.

Are those other possible causes or something?

Because im pretty sure that my twitches are caused by cannabis use since i would only smoke once or twice a month then I picked it up again a little bit more frequently (as in daily starting sunday night) and I noticed twitches last night and the night before that, only when I try to sleep though.

I use to smoke daily before I got arrested last december and got put on probation

1st time i blazed i had these for 10 days... kinda freaked me out. NEver get them anymore though, I say just wait abit, they will go :D

thanks to all those who replied :)
i've been taking Isotretinoin daily for 4 months now, got 2 more to go, but i doubt it had anything to do with it.

it's getting better now, I still get them, just not as frequently, so i guess it should go away in a couple of days. but come to think of it, i have been drinking mother (energy drink) almost daily now, which contains 160 mg caffeine. i guess i should stop, but i'd rather not cause Isotretinoin makes me feel really crappy during the day, and when i work, it's something i can't do without

Consider yerba mate and/or ginseng instead. Ginseng would probably be better as it does not have any methylxanthines.

I get them also, but I like them a lot :D. The more high I am the more my legs twitch from the greatness xD.

i love gettn twitches wen im stoned out.. everytme get a huge twitch it makes me hit the giggles =D

Lol. I have a friend like that, but then again she giggles a lot anyways.

..But yeah, sometimes when I'm high, I'll twitch a little bit. But I'm almost positive it never game from smoking weed. Because I didn't start twitching, until I did acid. But who knows.

I get some twitches especially in social situations, stoned or not. Getting high seems to amplify this, sometimes. I'm betting it's stress related.
