TV: Top Chef - Season 4

howie was an asshole.

btw, how tall is cj?

p.s. apparently padma & salman are getting a divorce.

why is bourdain back? the man is such an ass (yet i admire him for his stinging critisism tempered with a bit of humor). with his new show (no reservations) he is becoming a tube whore.

so we're down to the finale - it's over took weeks so i'm going to record tonight's episode and watch it next week with the final episode.

i think the final 4 is pretty solid and look forward to it unfolding. my money is on casey.

thoughts?

And the other judges aren't? Also, hasn't No Reservations show been on for a while? I thought CJ deserved it for the dish he made. What the hell was he thinking by using mint in an entree. Blech.

ali:

my money is still on hung. The final challenge plays to his strengths (putting together a really high-brow 5 course meal, probably). Casey really earned those last two wins, but she's got no prayer if speed and time become an issue. Remember how slow she chopped those onions? ;)

I like Dale, but I dont think he has what it takes

i wouldn't bet on hung. he's way too arrogant and, all season long, he's suggested that his failures are the judges fault because they don't understand or his partner's fault - always somebody else's fault with him.

i didn't really like joey much but the week he got canned it totally should have been hung. he dodged a bullet in a big way there.

like stephen and marcel before him, he's clearly got some talent and flair but he's way too into himself to win this.

Well that went down exactly as I thought it would.

Casey looks strong, and she's certainly proficcent enough to take it next week. I still prefer the other two though.

Discuss:

Does Chef Tom's statement that the level of talent is so high mean that the level is so high, or that its so low that something needs to be said? I see some of these plates, and I bet that they taste great, but Brian's last night looked like hash, like something I'd cook and think look liked a mess on the plate. Dale makes a tart without a necessary ingredient. Casery Purees potatoes and then adds a hard, chewey ingredient to them in chunks.

Bush Legaue?

^I'm with you 100% on that one.

Even if Hung does have the talent to win I honestly don't think the producers would allow it to happen. Did you see the phone poll last night on which person the public wanted to leave? Hung had 69% (or 70% - I can't remember which now) of the votes. Then again it would be controversial.

I like Dale and Casey both. It will be interesting to see how it pans out.

i do not see the point in doing a "live" finale... showing people clapping just isn't doing it for me :\

^^^ i know! they're dragging this out a bit too much.

Hung is annoying. Casey really shit the bed for this last round. Dale would have won if Collichio wasn't hellbent on hosing him over that lobster dish of his.

In regard to the live finale thing, well, it was misleading and stupid.
