like spam on the internet...once you get used to seeing it all the goddamn time, it eventually becomes acceptable...and sometimes even enjoyed.

Thank goodness people booed her at the Orange Bowl. That was a crowning moment for the public despising what MTV and the music industry tries to force on us as "good entertainment."
 
Dearest Daddy,
I have decided I want to renounce God and sell my soul to MTV too. Don’t tell me I’m too young either. You were whoring Jessica around to every shopping mall that would have her by the time she was twelve. And no more talk of my mommy parts being too small, because I talked to Dr. Bob and he told me he could fix everything that is wrong with me for only a hundred and fifty thousand dollars. My appointment is Wednesday.

I don’t want to be manufactured like Jessica either. I’m going to keep it real. By real I mean, I want to lip sync a bunch of songs I didn’t write and make an idiot out of myself on national TV, but with a punky edge to it. I don’t want to be seen as something unattainable. Spoiled and brainless will do just fine. I don’t mind being the enemy of all that is good and decent in this world as long as I’m popular.

I was thinking of a reality show after I’m done with this music thing next week (NOT like Jessica’s though) where we film the first two years of my marriage. Then when my popularity wanes we can leak the honeymoon tape on the internet. Which reminds me, you promised me a Backstreet boy or at least someone from New Kids who is still addicted to attention. This is so exciting! I’ve even got my summer tour name picked out, Mediocrity and Banality Take Center Stage Summer Fun Tour.

Don’t fight me on this Daddy. I still have those photos of you spreading it for Lucifer behind the Walmart. This is going to be so much fun!

Lets see, she's a rich, mercedes driving, stuck up kinda bitch type that I went to high school with.

I am poor, drive an 91' ford and the only "halftime" show i'm performing at is the toilet in between multiple beers.

She is so fake and marketed. she's trying to act like "im not mainstream and that makes me cool" kinda bullshit.

so no, i dont like ahslee simpson or her show though I have seen them before(unfourtunately)

Perhaps, but I think people in general are too susceptible to the endless promotion of the pop-driven, manipulative sound-engineering force known as commercial/mainstream music entertainment. There shouldn't be a place for no-talent, undeserving performers who initially lived off the celebrity of their sibling...but sadly there is a place for them in this world, and somehow this can be successful...even when they're made a complete fool TWICE on national television.

Im poor, drive a cheap car, have never or will never be famous, and have no problem with her whatsoever. Its sad how hateful people can be.

Just because you dont like it doesnt mean its a bad thing. Its MUSIC, there are LOTs of different types of it..I happen to feel she is very talented and what you percieve as no talent is your opinion, simple as that. There should be a place for anyone who wants to do whatever they want to do. You dont have to listen to it. But yeah..you guys can go on hating her and she can go on enjoying her cash. Im sure she cries over it every night. 8)

I understand a lot of people dont like her...but its just your opinion. "trash" is completely subjective..I cant believe some of you think any kind of music should be discriminated against...I mean..thats like saying black metal doesnt deserve a place in society because the religious right might think its devil music. I happen to love black metal AND ashlee simpson..I just think all music deserves a place..there will always be someone who likes it.

No, actually, it isn't like saying that black metal doesn't deserve a place. That would be me saying "it shouldn't be allowed to be played because it's against my values".

Sure, people can listen to it, and sure someone will always like it but it doesn't make it good. I just personally think people who subject to art that lacks depth/skill are missing out from music that has it.

It's not *just* subjective either. I'm so sick of people saying "well it's art and art is subjective so you can't judge it". If that were true then we shouldn't have art museums or a RockNRoll Hall of Fame (though I don't necessarily agree with that institution's choices) and critics would be out of a job. So, then what makes are good? There are things in art that are measurable and not subjective. One example is innovation. Another is their skill. Both of which Ashlee has none of. I can't take someone who's started taking an interest in music a year ago as a skilled musician. Besides, does she even know how to play an instrument?

Your entitled to your opinion. I guess I just dont feel like I should be attacked for HONESTLY enjoying her music. And no I dont think she plays an instrument..shes a singer....And I absolutely disagree that she has no skill. I have no problem with opinions, I just dont like when people state them as fact. As far as this:

The black metal comparison was more in response to lapdawgs comment "there should be no place for no talent, undeserving preformers"...and Im sorry but talent IS subjective. Otherwise how could you hear her music as crap and I hear it as something I love? I dont see how that is not subjective....

I dont know what the hell she lied about. But as far as her talents..bottom line: I like her voice. In my opinion she can sing well and has a sexy voice. She can sing a hell of a lot better than I (or half the people I know) can, and thats something. No Im not saying she is the best singer in the world, but its something!
 
She lied and said her band "played the wrong song" when she was on SNL. The band saved her ass (because they are real musicians), but seeing as though she doesn't know how to perform, she ran off stage like the little bitch she is and then lied about it later. There's some "artistic integrity" right there!

Any seasoned performer would have known how to handle the situation (which she wouldn't have been in in the first place if she actually sang instead of lip synced), but because she didn't come up working her ass off as a real musician she crashed and burned miserably.
 
Part of it is also that people that are actual musicians, write their own music and have talent may never make it big or get a break and get any kind of broad exposure, whereas she's making billions of dollars for being a no-talent hack. And no, that is not opinion. That is fact. People who can sing do not need to lip-synch. Even more baffling is the fact that she's exposed herself repeatedly as a no-talent hack, and yet this has done nothing to dissuade MTV's target demographic from buying her horrible music or watching her equally mindless television show.

If youd watched her show you would know the reason she lip synched was because she had a throat infection. It was easy to hear it in her voice the way she was talking before the show. As for the lying, I dont know. On her show she didnt say the band played the wrong song but that the backing vocal track was wrong..so I dunno. Perhaps she did say that at one point. WHo cares?? LOL I think its funny how passionately you guys feel about this topic.

SEE ABOVE POST. IF YOU HAD WATCHED HER SHOW YOU WOULD KNOW, SHE LIP SYNCHED BECAUSE HER VOICE WAS MESSED UP DUE TO A THROAT INFECTION.

And since when do people who write their own music NOT get famous? Ashlee writes a lot of her own stuff anyways...
