Interesting that you're proud of liking music specifically produced to appeal the uneducated masses.

I can understand liking it, but being proud of it? Not caring where the sound comes from? Not having respect for people with enough talent not to need tools to actually sound decent?

I wouldn't admit to that.

I cannot stand the mentality of "Oh she's hot, therefore, worth a listen, or a watch."
 
Im not proud of it. Or not proud of it. Its just some damn songs. I dont care. Finder, I get your point, I just love pop music. This isnt about principles to me, its about what I like or dont like.

That is ridiculous! I absolutely have respect for other musicians. I love all kinds of music.

Actual musicianship ? Bwhahahahahaha.... Pop fucking blows anyways, why you waste your time on it is beyond me. Do what you want, you have the right to love it and I have the right to know you and your black metal friend are fools. :) I dunno, for ME music is about sounding good (technical skill) and eliciting an emotional response. Ashlee and pretty much 99% of pop just doesn't do it for me. I could care less what they look like as long as it SOUNDS good. For instance maynard is a pretty ugly motherfucker, but I still am mesmorized by TOOL's music because of pure skill and POWER.

Anyways, I dont think I ever said that I like Ashlee's music simply because shes hot. She IS hot, but thats not why I like her music, I genuinly like it. That said, I also love tool and most of the other "good" bands you guys spoke of, and agree they are more talented. I dont get the argument.

People always see things in black and white. I like a little of everything..you CAN like more than one thing at the same time you know! 8(

As for my friend, well I agree with everything he said except for the too ugly to be on mtv thing, that was just dumb. :\

I dont know what else I say on this topic. I just think its a sad world when someone cant just accept a difference in opinion over something as silly as POP MUSIC. JEEZ.

So what if Deja likes pop. I don't see a reason to attack her (speaking to everyone here who can't respect that she respectfully disagrees with you). She likes what she likes. I understand that it must irk real musicians that some bubble-headed pop tart is promoted and pushed ahead of really talented people (blame MTV for that). But that doesn't mean that the music the bubble-head makes isn't catchy or somewhat fun to listen to (probably more due to the writers and band members more than to her). I personally like some of the songs she sings - just as like some Air Supply songs. Am I proud of that? NO. But there it is all the same.

PS - wow andi I didn't realize that you were made a mod. congrats. :)
 
Thanks! I agree, I am not PROUD of liking it..but Im not ashamed either. Im not PROUD of liking anything I like. To me, people who say they like bands and act proud of it like liking some underground music makes them cool or something are total posers.

EDIT ^ Not saying anyone here was doing that.

I'm attacking Ashlee Simpson if anything. I'm sorry mynameisnotdeja but I refuse to accept that the pop world has ruined many chances for the public to discover/listen to the great music that is out there. And how do I qualify 'greatness' well it certainly takes talent and more meaningful lyrics than that coming from Ashlee. It has NOTHING to do with accepting 'differences'. I don't understand how you can continually ignore the points that several members have been making.. and just assume that we can't "accept differences". Give me a break.

You repeatedly ignore any questions I have asked you as well as failed to answer the question of what "talent" Ashlee employs.

I LIKE THE SONGS PUT OUT ON THE RADIO, in her name I dont give a shit if shes a fucking ROBOT or alien or some genetically engineered creature. For the love of GOD..i just like the damn songs.
