Tripping with pets

My dog has been abnormally happy towards my tripping partner and I. She will come up to us wagging her tail more often and sometimes stare at us a lot. She is such a good dog, getting old but still so fun to have.

We think that she is probably noticing us being happier, but I know she knows something is up. I tripped with just my dog many times alone, and she has been pretty funny. She will stare at me and sometimes I laugh a lot, but she is always there with me and seems happy/playful.

She knows.

Once I ate shrooms and my schnauzer saw my dilated eyes and got freaked out and started barking a lot. I miss her. :(

I petted my cat some that night and he wasn't freaked out by my dilated eyes.

LSD does not make my eyes dilate at all even on high doses.

My cats were following me down the street when i was on lsd once, they kept getting ahead of me without me noticing...cutting me off and causing me not to go for my walk until i captured them and put them back inside... they were messing with me! :P

i think people can be very habit oriented and so animals can know that daily routine quite well, when you take a trip you act far out of that routine so they probably get thrown off by that for one.

Awww! :) I know what you mean, I will laugh a lot looking at my dog too and he wags his tale and scratches at me and his ears go down. =D

one of my familys cats came in my room once when i was on acid once. let me just start by saying i dont like this cat much to begin with, but when he first came in he was chill. then he started getting wild and clawing at shit, so i kicked him out. then he came back in, and i looked into his eyes, and it was kind of weirding me out, so i kicked him out and shut the door. he was clawing at my door for like 5 minutes, not cool while tripping. still had an amazing trip though.

Edit- yes, i think he knew i was tripping

Obviously they don't "know" you are "tripping." What does a cat know about "psychedelic drugs"?

They do probably sense that you are in a more sensitive and susceptible state of mind... like they know it is easier for them to get you to notice them, which they enjoy, so they proceed to mess with you.

They probably pick up on your changes in body language, movement, rhythm of your movements, even rhythm of your breathing, temperature of your skin... and most likely your SMELL... I would bet that psychedelics change our natural scent we all give off, and that cats' and dogs' super-powerful noses are sensitive enough to pick up on it... thus they can tell via a variety of senses that you are SOMEHOW "different than normal." Which piques their interest and curiosity, so they jump on the chance to take advantage of you.

I don't think that was what was being said, as such.

Anyway, stop putting a downer on things! Heh heh.

My pets always behave differently when I'm intoxicated on anything.

In my parents neighborhood, where I used to trip a lot when I was a young'n, My typical tripping night consisted of me and 1 to 3 of my close tripping friends staying over at my parents house, my parents fall asleep around 11, we take our drugs, at about 1 or 2am we always would sneak out the window and go walk around the neighborhood.

(some times we were rolling, not tripping)

Anyways. We would always walk around my neighborhood in the middle of the night and would always walk around this one turn and run into this beautiful white dog that was always really happy to see us, he would then start walking with us like he was one of the group as we continued walking around the neighborhood until the sunrise.

We would always get to the turn on the neigbhorhood that leads off to the private street my parents house was on and basically all tell the dog "this is where we have to part, I wish you could come home with us, but my parents would be like WTF"

And the dog would just continue walking around the neighborhood to go back to the side he lives on (im assuming, I still dont know what house he lives at)

Then we would walk up to my house and sneak back into my room and listen to music and chill and eventually go to sleep.

There came a time in my life where I got in a lot of trouble and my parents restricted me from staying over at friends houses or having friends stay the night at my house for like 1/4 of the year...

Durring this time in my life I kept doing drugs, but just by myself, I would eat mushrooms, or take MDMA, or take acid on pretty much every single friday night durring that time of my life.

I would still sneak out of the window and go walk around the neighorhood, and run into this dog, who became my new trip partner.

By the end of the 3 months it got to where on saturdays, when I would open my window to go sneak out, my new friend would be waiting outside the window already.

So in short, YES, I believe pets know when you are tripping... even if they are not your pet, and not actually with you when you are tripping..... (imagine how that revelation was when I was tripping and openned the window to see that dog waiting outside my window for me already lol)

This story is amazing. It really warmed me up.

don't notice anything different around my kitten, just the usual.. following me around and meowing. and since it was taken away from my mother it will try to nurse on my fingers, earlobe.. and since it isn't spayed i wouldn't want to deal with that tripping

makes me consider the ramifications of not spaying for its first heatcycle, or how i don't have enough money to provide it with worthwhile food.. well its not really my cat anyways

Interesting thread. I do believe pets can tune into a master who goes from a normal boring consciousness to soaring high above that. They feel something for sure. Sort of like when someone is angry and everyone in the room can feel it. Dogs can sense anger, why wouldn't they sense a feeling of awe and wonder?

Pets can definently see the energy that your putting out, also animals are so much more interesting on psychedelics. I've been tripping on acid and was able to see peoples energy radiating off of them. So I would imagine that animals have somthing similar but probably not as intense, they definently pick up on the vibes though.

Perhaps it's more that they "sense" the energy. Of course there is no way to know but i don't think dogs see on the right wavelength to see that kind of energy.

Although this gave me an idea, it would be astonishingly awesome if scientists could develop a machine that taps into brain waves and plays back on a screen what the individual wearing it is seeing. Then put it on a dog. Ha

my pug Pumba acts different, but he's an awesome 'soul' to be around while tripping.
My b/f and I tripped hard on some wollongong (shrooms) when my rents went out of town and it was the most magical and lovely trip we have had. The colors, visuals, body high was amazing. The best part was tangling up on th counch together listening to animal collective and my pug came and curled upin the middle of us, and laid on us like how a baby lays on a parent. It was really touching

The most magical trip I had was when my b/f and I did some wollongongs and curled up on the couch with my dog on top of us and listening to animal collective. We always talk about that trip as the one that truly brought us together. And since then my dog has been super comfortable with the boyfrann as well (:
