Tripping with pets

Does anyone else get a very strong feeling that their cats or dogs "know" when you are tripping? In my experience they act differently around you and give you weird looks that give me a very strong feeling of them trying to communicate with me/feeling that they know i am tripping. It could simply be and most likely is that they can "sense" the very strong emotional experience you are having, similar to sensing fear or knowing when you are sad.

Does anyone else experience something similar to this?

Me and a friend ate shrooms that turned out to be WAY stronger than suspected. The cat I got from my parents as a kid was also in the room, it was exactly as you say. Staring into its huge peering yellow eyes, it talked to me with its mind. Caveat: i lost 'continuity' shortly thereafter, don't know what happened at the peak of the trip. Friend said I kept asking who I was, who he was, and where we were. Could all be in my mind. But secretly, i blame the cat for my crazy trip :D

I have no doubt that pets can feel when you are tripping.
Meaning that they detect a change in your behaviour and therefore behave differently.

^^ Yeah that's pretty much what i have decided it must be. Obviously they don't know specifically that you are tripping, but either way i have always found it fascinating when in their presence while trippin.

Of course animals know, dogs get all needy and worried, cats find it amusing in their cool aloof way and rats see it as the perfect opportunity to play you up!

Well animals have a good sense of smell and we do smell different when were afraid, happy, worried or just fucked up.

So yes they do.

Animals can pick up on changes in electromagnetism,i beleive that when we trip on pychedelic substances our electrical waves that emenate from our being also change and this is what animals pick up on.

In our day to day living we are on certain frequencies and wavelengths, but when we interfere with them the frequency jumps around all over the place creating distortions in our magnetic fields.

Just my theory.

I used to think that my cat knew when I was tripping. She would look at me a certain way. I can't explain it.

But now I realize I was just seeing what I wanted to see. She looks at me the same way when I am not tripping; I just don't think anything of it!

Yes my dog gets a little concerned when I'm tripping. It's best not to make an issue of it tho, just reassure her and let her go to sleep.

Being able to pick up electromagnetism in other animals is pretty rare. Sharks & platypus can do it, along with a few species of ray, electric ell, lungfish & few other water-based critters.

I'd love to see any evidence of that. 8) I'd imagine it'd be pretty easy to wire your self up for testing it out too.

Yeah I think my dog gets kind of worried also. Sometimes if im just sittin there lookin at visuals she will start whining.

One of my friends was standing in a hallway with her cat lying belly up in front of her, and she kept saying i think the cats going to attack me. We were both on shrooms, and I was just like no it won't. Then my friend jumped past the cat and the cat fully chased her into her room. I felt so bad after that I didn't help her.

There is an unseen universal energy that flows through all things, electrical, magnetic these are part of that energy, forces that are at work that are unseen by the naked eye.

Qigong uses these types of energies and i beleive that when we take psychedelics these energies become more apparent, even visible to the eye.

Earth vibrates with energy and we are a part of that, animals can sense earth quakes, they can sense impending siezures, animals can sense a far more than we can, including the energies i talk of.

I've not paid attention to how animals treat me while tripping, but I have noticed that it becomes a lot easier to relate to them as "non-human people". It's much more apparent, to me at least, that animals are intelligent beings in their own right (albeit with weaker mental faculties), deserving of the same respect as any human.

Discovering that was quite the revelation.

I think my dog can feel when I'm tripping, and I love playing with him, true or not, I feel a deep connection. I don't just like animals, I have a big sense of respect for them as what they are (dogs, cats, squirrels, whatever) instead of pretending they are somewhat humans. When I'm tripping I think I can understand their true nature a bit better.

I feel a much better connection with pets when tripping, more that I can come down to their level and see them as beings rather than just typical household pets. I feel it's the empathy I sometimes find on psychedelics.

was triping balls on acid one night having a severe emotional semi psychotic meltdown.
heard my cat scratching and meowing at my door so i let him in.

after drying my tears to be able to see him i saw he was EXTREMELY upset and agitated.
now, you may know that when cats are upset or agitated they fluff up and they raise their backs.
he was the most fluffed up i had ever seen him, and was walking slightly raised on his paws with an arched back,
his tail was swishing wildly.

now i instantly knew something was not right, but he was purring intensely. the most intense rapid purring ive ever heard.
and no, i was not tripping-imagining it. he seemed really upset and had a very worried sad look on his face.

i instantly clicked that he had been outside my room and picked up on my severely upset vibes.
i could tell he was worried about me and wanted to make everything better. i could just feel it.
i picked him up and stroked n cuddled him, made him slightly better but he was very upset.

i told him it was ok and not to worry, and i started to calm down. i put him outside the room and forced myself to sleep. i dont remember falling asleep but i curled up in a ball, mustve passed out due to mental exhaustion :\

so yes, i truly believe animals can sense this kind of stuff.

well I've always thought pets treat me very differently when I trip. Its not so much like they no I'm tripping, but its like they look at me like Im a complete stranger (they also seem very tense). When I was tripping I wrote it off by saying to myself the mushroom plant spirit was inside of me and when they look at me they see it and not me. Now that I'm sober i know this is complete horse shit, but hey if you cant enjoy magical thinking on psychedelics then idk whats wrong with you

Yes! Dogs (and probably cats, not a cat person) are quite adept at gauging body language, even minute changes in body chemistry. For instance, it is said that dogs know when you feel fear and can "sense" any release of adrenaline.

My dog felt so wet (when completely dry) I remember when petting him while on mushrooms. His multi-colored hair (a Silky Terrier) - black, light brown, tan, silver - was going nuts and there was so much texture, etc.
