Trey Anastasio busted! (Updated 4/13/07)

Haters: Go listen to Trey play guitar, and you'll at least gain some respect.

The man is a fantastic guitar player.

Period.

Karma's a bitch.

While I can't deny Trey's musical mastery, all the videotaped images I've ever seen of the guy told my gut he is a very, very selfish man. Don't ask me to expound on this -- it's just a vibe he always gave off to me. Know how all of us can cite an example of someone we don't like but can't help respecting? Trey Anastasio is the opposite for me.

I don't know much of anything about his selfishness vs. altruism (other than he has got to be too rich to do much good for one person), but he is an EXCELLENT musician. See also the Juliard School of Music, no?

I defy "The Man" to justify that ANYTHING this man has done in his life deserves even 14 *months* in prison.

He won't spend a day in jail. Whens the last time you heard of a celebrity doing any jail time for pills?

^which is for pot smoking.. which the US government see's and the worst "substance" in the world.

Trey wouldn't see the time.. he'll get off with community service and most likely a court-ordered rehab, if he pleads that he has a problem and wants to get better.

um, driving while completely fucked on painkillers, ie putting everyone on the road at risk, is certainly grounds for being sent to jail imo. dunno bout the time limit, but the guy is hardly without guilt

^^What? Shit, he should play their game and do a little community service (won't hurt him to do a little work). He might go into a program and get away from abusing his substances. Either way, he will end up writing some good music. Trey fans, just give him a little time. He'll be back in full force.

Well, that article says he's entering a drug court program. If it's anything like most of the drug courts in GA, he better not have a problem devoting most of his time to it and going out of his way on a daily basis to please the staff. Getting kicked out of a drug court program is no joke, and you don't have to get high to get kicked out. They almost always give you a prison sentence upon getting suspended. They know they have your life in their hands and don't have any problem fucking with you every chance they get, around here. When I was in drug court I was required to call a phone line every day and report to drug court offices or court for a drug test if my name was on the line (ended up being on there 3-5 days a week), go to 6 groups a week (each lasting 1-2 hours a piece), 5 NA meetings a week, court every Monday, and work 40 hours a week.

Point taken, and of course I agree. But seeing as there was no car crash, human injury, or property damage, 14 years was still a mind-boggler...
