Excellent website based in Australia, however it's accessible to anyone around the world. Whilst it is detailed as a 'Youth' website it is full of accurate information appropriate for people of any age.

It's primary focus is on providing information, support and links regarding mental health, drug and alcohol information for you, or how to help friends facing related issues.
Go to:
http://www.headspace.org.au

You'll find:
  • Factsheets - mental health / substances
  • Online forums with mental health experts
  • Help lines - including crisis contacts
  • Links to external services and related websites
  • Peoples genuine experiences
I highly recommend this website,

<3 Isis

American Psychological Association

For those who want to change their behaviors, their causes and triggers through therapy, I want you to read about this, it's a lot better than being dependant on MMT or Suboxone or whatever the fuck they put you on to simply keep you addicted to a substance for financial gain....

National Association of Cognitive Behavioral Therapists--what is cognitive behavioral therapy, "CBT"?

Of course, I'm not a psychologist, YET™, however I am always willing to talk about psychology as a means to understanding yourself, who YOU are, why you're this way, and how to change it. You can always reach me by PM, or more easily through AIM or MSN. I'm always willing to talk to you and listen most importantly to your problems, and offer advice to your on how to improve yourself, based on how I did it, and it all comes from WITHIN YOURSELF. YOU JUST NEED SOMEONE TO HELP YOU REALIZE WHAT A STRONG PERSON WE ALL CAN BE. (IT REALLY WORKS IF YOU WORK IT.)

Contact me via PM here on BL, or more conveniently:

AIM Screen name: penguins
MSN: [email protected]

even if you were a psychologist, it would make no difference in the end except, it should be a bit DL or "tell if asked" because as a disclaimer we are here not as professionals, but as voluntary support. whos advice is only speculation from mere personal experience.

in other words, we can lend an ear and a word, but not be solicitive about it.

cheers and jeers.

Hi everyone,

A friendly reminder from your friend Mariposa that the purpose of this thread is to provide help and resources, not espouse personal opinions. Posts that are not on topic are going to be removed and if they contain abusive, disruptive, or flaming language, are subject to warnings and eventual bans. I've cleaned up the off-topic stuff.

Please continue to provide links to resources and if you have a helpful message directed at a particular user, please PM them rather than respond in the thread just so we can stay organized and on topic.

Thank you :)

Mariposa

I was sorry for being abrasive.

It's over, I promise. <3 Mariposa, please contact me, AIM MSN -OR---well, you know.

you helped me hardcore.

EMDR

Is a non-pharmaceutical treatment originally designed to treat PTSD, but has been found to have phenomenally high success rates for anxiety disorders of all types, most depression disorders, some eating disorders, substance abuse (the psychological aspect therof, of course), body dysmorphic issues, and others. It has personally helped me a great deal, and since I've been suggesting it to everyone and their dog lately, I thought I'd put a few links to it in here.

Basic Info (Wikipedia)

EMDR Canada
EMDR USA
EMDR UK
EMDR Australia

And feel free to PM me if you'd like to know more about it, my personal experience with it, or if you need a sympathetic ear.

I just went through 'rapid detox' at Florida Detox (www.floridadetox.com), was released on July 11 and I still feel like CRAP. They make a lot of promises there, some that people can be back at work and fine the following week. I was fine from the unreversed anesthesia used and that euphoria of being taken care of. That all vanished when I got home. I've already had to fly back once and can't afford it again. Now every hour seems to take forever except at night when I can take my 'nighttime meds'.

I guess this works for some people, but it is sort of a cult of 'you were medicating for ADD! We're putting you on ADD meds and that'll fix it all!". I definitely have ADD and was definitely self-medicating for that as well as my pain (which was extreme--opiates) but no nervous person should be put on those meds and now my normal docs seem to think I'm going through delayed withdrawals. That's what it feels like at any rate. I feel like I'm detoxing at home all over again.

This may help some people though. I just am barely making it through the days.

If your near Langhorne, PA (19047) I highly recommend livengrin.org if you or a loved one needs rehab.

The brain is damaged by alcohol and drugs. NTR is the process in which the brain's neurotransmitters are brought back into balance, allowing the brain to function as it did prior to the physical dependency on alcohol or drugs.
i just loled

what if my neurotransmitters can only keep their balance while on drugs?

i also wonder how much money these guys rip from people

ps: no drug cause brain damage, its the people themselves who do that

Hmmmm ^^? Anyways is that where your going to go? Rehab is a great place to learn and start your process of sobriety. If you are truly addicted, then rehab is a great place to go because you don't have the option of using like you would at home. It's up to you to make that decision though, as you might be able to quit without it. Good luck bud!

Trrrrrrroooooooollllllll IBC :p

maybe... but its still a real treatment service.

technically i wudnt say thats correct - it is the actual drug that causes the damage....yes its the person who abuses the drug but its still the drug abuse that causes the damage
some drugs more than others of course
and id also like to know, OP - r u posting this link because ur interested in going there for help, or u want the rest of us to know the option of going there is available?.....in which i wud say gd luck - rehab is a really positive experience for some ppl, or thanks for the link
however i wud still like to know ur intentions of ur original post and showing us this link

i agree with their methods, but not marketing.

you can receive all amino acids, B vitamins, many enzymes, and more vitamins or minerals then i could remember, in a good pinch of raw bee pollen.

large doses of niacin have been shown to cure schizo D/Os, vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and proteins do sustain our brain. makes sense, and is something i have written essays on.

but this would be best fit in the "treatment services help line" thread.

well if people wouldnt abuse them like that then there wouldnt be such problems. its so stupid thing to blame drugs no matter what. sorry if this is a little harsh, no offense. i also not sure about discussing this kind of thing in a thread like this, i just cant stand rehab/detox places like that, lie to people, use scare tactics just for earn more money:| pls feel free to vanish my all hostile posts if you want:)

This is a wonderful thread. Thank you Sushii for starting it and thanks to all the BLers who have posted resources and words of encouragement.

The organization listed below is not a drug-treatment center. It is a center devoted to women's health that also provides great services for bi, lesbian and transgender folks. But they offer a lot of services that are invaluable for women who have use/abuse problems. They're simply dedicated to providing the best possible care to the widest range of women that they possibly can. And they do a stupendous job. (They offer a sliding scale.)

website: http://www.lyon-martin.org/index.php
Lyon-Martin on Yelp. Read some personal stories and reviews:
http://www.yelp.com/biz/lyon-martin...hrid:GdmJuySyam2qPjuBVNBqSw/query:lyon-martin

They're in San Francisco. I wish they were everywhere in the country, but hey, what can you do?

They do offer drug counseling, and can refer you to programs specifically geared to your use/abuse problems. But they stand out as an amazing resource because of their commitment to womens' health and sexual health in particular. They have an extensive HIV program, including testing, counseling, support groups and help in navigating the system in order to find affordable, compassionate treatment. Their gynecological care is unparalleled. And it's affordable!

They work with a lot of women with histories of substance abuse and will listen to your drug-related questions and issues with no judgment and tons of compassion and will give you the best possible care. If you don't have insurance or want to know your health status, ie. the health of your liver, they provide those services at a very low fee. Many of my friends who don't have health insurance can actually afford to take care of their bodies and their mental health because of Lyon-Martin.

They operate on a sliding scale (can't help but mention it again). Because they offer affordable care, the wait is usually long when you go into the office. They are the nicest, most compassionate caregivers I've ever dealt with. Can I use the word compassionate again? But I'm nearly 40 and I've had more than my share of dealing with irresponsible, careless, egotistical doctors. To all of the good doctors out there with integrity and compassion, bless you.

I need help from some doctor, scientists or specialists to get off his ass and try to work out how to help a rare minority case like mine where I'm disabled with a rare neurological disorder immideately following a drug overdose that happened 8 years ago from a combination of meth and pills I'd been using at rave party's for many years.

I severely overheat almost everyday, Ive lost the ability to sweat, I have developed Autonomic Dysfucnction and chemical sensitivity and allergic type reactions to all psychoactive substances which I didnt have before the overdose. I've lost my independence, , all my body's automatic functions like digestions, blood pressure, heart rate, temperature are messed up. My joints are detereorating and also of unknown origing most likely related to the neurological disorder and I have constant pain but Im struggling with taking pain medication like opioids due to the hypersensitivity I developed from the overdose. I develop hyperthermia everytime I have adverse reactions.

I live in Melbourne Australia, Ive seen many specialsist and neurologist who find my case very difficult to diagnose and treat, I NEED DR HOUSE!!! , if anyone has his contact details please help me.
