Hi, i'm looking for some help and advice. I've Been Abusing Tramadol for 3 years and over the last week i have gone from 6 a day and at least 3 days a week abusing them and taking 10 in a night, down to one a day. I can deal with all the withdrawal side affects but i cannot cope with the RLS. I have seen a lot of things to take for it but its mostly US posts with things i cant get here. Also i'm wondering if using codeine to help with the withdrawal is counter productive? i appreciate any help i can get here.

try a slower taper ...thats really fast to drop down...try to go from 6 a day to 4 for a week then 2 a day for a week then 1 a day the last week....should help alot....as far as codeine yes its counter productive the taper alone should work wonders....

Hiya Jewelbox,

Please ask this question in The Dark Side http://www.bluelight.org/vb/forums/47-The-Dark-Side
or
Other Drugs http://www.bluelight.org/vb/forums/58-Other-Drugs
In these sub-forums, you will receive a lot more responses / support than on this sub-forum. On New Members Introductions, we, Bluelighters, will help new members settle in, learn more about the site and what not but it's not the place to answer specific drug-related question, I'm afraid. A moderator or a BL Ambassador may be able to explain this further if you'd like to discuss how the site works.

The people in Other Drugs and The Dark Side are extremely helpful, supportive, knowledgable and will be able to support you better on this.

Also - welcome to Bluelight and please feel free to ask any questions here, re the site and someone will help you. I'd also advise you to look at the stickies where there are useful information such as the Adoption Programme. This is a programme in which current members, known as Bluelighters adopt/befriend new members, known as Greenlighters, settle into the site, navigate BL, make friends with like-minded people and so forth. If you would be interested in this please go to the Adoption Programme Thread and post that you are interested and some of your interests in relation to BL so you can be paired up with someone more suited to you.

All the best,
Evey

The RLS is why they call it "kicking"... Codeine would be completely counterproductive to use, it being a true opiate..Unless you tapered with that, but I'm not sure there would be an advantage...

I can rattle off a whole list of detox drugs for you, but it won't really do you much good if you can't access them..Do you have access to Valium/klonopin/xanax or some other benzodiazepine that you could take at night?

Check the OD directory in my signature, there's useful info there, and some interesting stuff to read as well...

Ugh, Tramadol withdrawal is the worst. The RLS is insane. The only way I got through it was to take Ambien for the first 2 days and sleep through it. Hang in there.

baclofen works miracles for sleep through the rls...im actually prescribed but is easily obtainable its a phenly derivitive of ghb and works better than lope ever thought of to ne anyway...80-120 mgs

Tramadol even though it is the weakest opiod out there still causes hellish withdrawals and hardcore depresion. I find that tramadol causes this more than any other opiate because of its serotonergic effects on the brain it seems to work like an anti depressant with the same symptoms of withdrawal as many anti depressants. I was thinking what about going on a mild serotonin releasing agent (SRA) for the tramadol withdrawals that would help a lot with the crazy thoughts.
