I am a nearly 60 year old bodybuilder and martial artist who lives with a lot of pain. I will never stop training, even though I am now facing hip/shoulder replacement and other painful issues. I am EXTREMELY careful with medications and have been using Kratom 3-4 times a week. I have an unlimited supply of Tramadol but generally do not touch it for 2 reasons: One is the addiction potential, but I believe that if I limited its use to twice a week when I am really hurting I will be OK.
The other reason I don't take it is because it ruins my deep sleep, which has been documented in the scientific literature.
Yesterday after training I was in a great deal of pain and was in a hurry (wife' birthday) so I did not have time to prep any Kratom (I use either capsules of make it in a fruit/protein shake). So I took a 100 mg Tramadol. After 3 hours I was still in a hurt locker, so I took another. I also took a Norflex and finally got some relief.
But here is the strange part: I slept well and was refreshed. I expected crappy sleep and to be tired today, but I feel good. Has anyone else taken Tramadol and slept well? Is the sleep issue overstated in the scientific literature?
Thanks.
