tom cruise gets wierd with matt lauer (ritalin)

you guys have to respect people who don't believe in drugs. if someone doesn't think psychiatric drugs should be used so often to treat psychological problems like depression and ADD that is a valid opinion. even if this person is forming their opinion based on something you think is bullshit like scientogoly you still need to respect that opinion as seperate from scientology (proving scientology wrong doesnt prove drugs are good).

Some people believe an old guy was spoken to by a burning bush then sat atop a mountain for 40 days where God spoke to him and presented him with some scripture.

Some others believe the son of God came to the earth 2005 years ago, walked on water, turned water to wine, then was cruicfied for our sins.

All religions sound like a tin of mixed nuts, but many believers have done amazing things and spoken many true words. What anyone believes in is no more valid than what anyone else believes. But if they are trying to help people then they should be allowed to voice what's on their mind without being unfairly persecuted because of their beliefs.

Well, if in several thousands years people point back and look at the Scientology of today with something approaching the way they look back at Christianity, then I'll concede the point.

That's not to say Christianity hasn't had more than its share of horrendous acts and issues. I'm not religious in the slightest.

But Scientology is only a few decades old, and it's a science fiction story written by a science fiction author who once claimed that the real money was in starting a religion.

Interesting reading - quotes from Hubbard's writings, including the Manual of Justice, which on its own should make your hair stand on end. http://www.xenu.net/archive/go/man_just.htm

I too advent the treatment of mental health without psych drugs but that is based purely on case history not the ramblings of someone who is clearly a little off kilter themselves...

All I can say is, I want some of the "Neroin" Cruise was doing in Minority Report.

"L Ron.hubbard cant save your life, superboy takes a plutonium wife..." U.S.Forces, midnight oil.

^^^ I may be the only one but God damn I love that band... sorry to be off topic. Here is a link to keep me on the up and up www.tomcruiseisnuts.com .

Do those guys still play down under? What the hell does vegamite realy taste like?

They have officially split, singer peter garret taking up a political career(!)The last time they played was at the "wave aid" tsunami benifit.Check out the "head injuries" album.Oh and vegemite...its an aquired taste...Some what salty and savoury.Do you remember the gig they did on wall st. to protest against exxon? Also check out the video "oils on the water" live on goat island in 1985. Go the oils...

Vegemite is a food of the gods. I love it and eat it on toast almost every day. I was brought up on it so even like to put some on a spoon and lick it for 20 mins till all gone.

About Scientology and Xtianity the main reason I am against them is they are against consensual crimes. All of our laws are based on Xtian beliefs and most people on this website would consider them wrong.

I can be arrested for consuming something that is natural? It is fucking insane because I am the criminal and the victim. America was once founded on beliefs that seperated church and state and now the US is a Xtian Police state imho.

I am an Aussie and want to fight for everyones rights cause honestly what happens in the US happens here. If we cant change your laws ours never will.

Scientologists can do what ever they wish but as soon as it they try and change things that I hold as my personal rights and freedoms it is time to put em back in their box.

Tom can hate drugs all he wants. Just means more for me.

Midnight Oil are definitely one of my favourite bands. I'm glad they played at Wave Aid so I had a chance to see them live (I kept putting it off due to doing other things, thinking that they would always be around - stupid me). Head Injuries is an awesome album too. I'm really hoping Peter Garret made a good choice in joining labour (rather than the greens) and might eventually do some real good for our country.

As for Tom Cruise...

In short fuck him and fuck scientology.

He needs some of the psychiatric drugs he is so adamently against...

Rave all you want, there are no positive aspects of scientology. It is stupid, brain-washing, cult shit. And its theories are fucking demented (though not necessarily more than other religions).

No, we don't. It is irresponsible to believe in such complete bullshit as "drugs don't work" as what Tom Cruise is talking about.

It's like saying we should respect people who deny that the earth revolves around the sun, or that the moon causes the tides.

Ignorance should not get respect.

Yeah, it's an opinion - but it's not an opinion that has any worth.

It is one thing to say that Ritalin and other psychoactive medication is not the BEST solution to ADHD and other problems, it is quite another thing to say that Ritalin doesn't work and is based on flawed science....to tell people that their mental illness isn't "real" and that it's actually a manifestation of "Body thetans" that Tom Cruise believes in.

It's the same idiotic mentality that parents use to decide not to use vaccines.

You have a brain. Use it.

Well, MY inner secrets to perfect peace and absolute power can be had for only $100,000. It's a great deal by comparison. And I guarantee it's more useful than the alien invader nonsense you become privy to at OTIII.

Cash only, please - and small bills.

could someone tell me what scientology exactly is? I guess what are its basic beliefs and rules?

^^^in a nutshell - scientology is lunacy

a rumor states that L. ron hubbard was a having a conversation saying that the way to become the richest person in the world is to lead a religion. so he supposedly made a bet that he could create a religion that sucked people dryer than christianity or any other religion. the rest is history. read the rest of the thread, there are links. do a google

I still believe there ARE some positive aspects of scientology, if one was to take out the money, brainwashing & science fiction.

That's a joke, right? If you take the money, brainwashing and science fiction out of it you are left with - NOTHING.

Nothing with the ulterior motives that Scientology has can be - in the end - a "positive aspect".

It is an insult to humanity but VERY effective on playing on the emotions of it's followers (as with most "religions/cults").

Any self improvement (one of Scientology's "Goals") that occurs while a follower of that insanity is at best false improvement, and at worst - when the person comes out of the cult - a destroyer of whatever remaining self-worth they had going in!

Heh, I went to the opening day of War of the Worlds and about an hour through it some guy up front yells, "TOM CRUISE IS IN THIS MOVIE!?!?"
