tom cruise gets wierd with matt lauer (ritalin)

tom cruise is an actor
that means he gets paid to LIE as in pretend to be something he's not for money like a fighter pilot or somebody with an informed opinion and he can pull it off looking like a fucking scientist if he wants cuz he's had all those years in LYING aka acting school
just because people are rich powerful and famous doesnt mean they are smarter than us in most cases they are just lucky and were born into the right circumstances in others they worked their ass off for that money
oh politcians are smarter than actors they taught themself how to lie and have secretive lives make more money and have way more power (e.g arnold becomin governer of cali) how many politcians are scientologists?

Your name suits you.

Tom Cruise is not paid to lie about everything. He is paid to ACT, on SET. (Do guests get paid on talkshows?) . How in the hell is joining this religion going to earn him money? Now if it is something he is doing for his wife, or to help a friend, that's one thing. But to say its for money.... hmmm.

Alot of people who are " rich powerful and famous" ARE smarter than us in some aspect. As a few people I've met in Hollywood and Orange CA, it's 100% about connections.

What the fuck do you mean politicians lie and have secretives lives? You know, I ALWAYS make sure to vote for the best liar! And why are you critisizing arnod as governor? Because he used to be an actor? Man, you make great grounds for arguing. Stop talking out of your A-S-S.

being a scientologist isn't going to make tom cruise money, most people lose it all paying for the secrets.

L. ron hubbard was the one raking in the dough (until he died a reclouse entrenched in his own paranoia) and unlike other religions, he was free to spend it on whatever he wanted without scrutiny. i mean technically the pope is extremely rich, but he spends it all on charity and promotion of the church. i doubt hes rollin with plasma TV in his bedroom chamber, but i guarantee you the people at the highest levels of scientology are ballin OUT OF CONTROL. they are criminals and here is the proof - an ex-scientologists top man reveals all in an affidavit (for which he received death threats from other memebrs). the main culprits lie in the upper eschelons, but tom cruise is just a mouthpiece (so far)

but my beef isn't with scientoloigy, it is the fact that tom cruise is wrong about his opinions and facts on SSRI and add drugs

its being discussed at length on anderson cooper right now!

My parents almost made me go to a scientology rehab/detox. Thank god I didn't, I was coming off 180mg methadone. I probably would have died.

Let me remind you cr that we are all created equal in this world...As for arnie, well he is the epitome of the great american wank, (one of thousands). Its a see it how you like too situation, some think he is a "smart" man,i see him as someone who not only has made himself a career but a cultural icon out of a life time of chronic drug abuse(steroids).Furthermore, he was the catylyst in helping joe weider create a $350,000,000 publishing empire based on selling snake oil to the masses.Fuck me! am i missing something here? Let me know cr...Oh and bowdenta, he may have gone along with the opinions of the "church" on ssri meds and the like but i can tell you he is not far off the mark.

saying there is no scientific evidence to support that there is such a thing as a chemical imbalance is way off the mark. apparently he's never heard of functional MRI

saying that all SSRI and ADD medication use is bad is also way off the mark. sure there may be problems with the system, but you're retarded if you think SSRIs are placebos or ritalin always does more harm than good. plain and simple - a few bad apples cant spoil the bunch

saying that pyschiatry is a psuedoscience is pretty unconvincing coming from someone who gets their info from a psuedoreligion. he advocates preventing pysciatrists from writing prescriptions, even though they have only been doing so for a few decades. what he doesn't realize is that in a another few decades, newer medicines and better prescription policies WILL be in place. its not like we all have the time and money to take the scientology classes to learn how to deal with our smaller psychiatric problems. In addition, learning the secrets of scientology is not going to help the more severe cases like paranoid schizophrenics with dementia.

Like bowdenta said.

I found it ironic that he called psychitry a pseudoscience. Last I checked it wasn't listed under the "pseudoscience" heading in university class catalogs, or in libraries.

Is Scientology even recognized by the US gov as a religion? Not that that is a gold standard, but hey - if Mormonism isn't recognized as a religion, then Scientology definately isn't.

I completely disagree with you on saying that we are all created equal. We should all have equal rights. But we are clearly not all created equal. I'm sorry, but someone born with AIDS is not equal to someone healthy. You live with AIDS, then tell us that everyone is born equal.

Tell me why Arnold is a bad governor. Is it because he movies sucked? He took steroids? He had an ugly girlfriend? His accent sucks? These are all CRUCIAL points to being a politician you know.

Because knowledge of the law and correct interpretation of the constitution is not important right? Freedom is not important right? The state of California not only elected Arnold, but elected him to replace an incompetent governor. You tell the people of California that they are fucking idiots for voting for who they support.

Yea, fuck freedom right?

scientology is recognized as a church in the US. but not all countries do, germany being one that doesn't. japan recognizes it, but they are full of crazy cults - which by the way you CANNOT call scientology. why? because they will sue you, just as they did the entire country of belgium when they labeled scientology a cult in 2001. they are the most legally active of every "religion", which is why most countries allow them religious status, they dont want to get tied up in the courts

I guess californians dont know what they want. they replaced the old gov with arnold because of poor economic decisions. they hate arnold even more now because he has stripped a bunch of programs to save money. i don't think hes a bad governer because he makes bad movies, i just dont think he belongs in politics. or atleast he should practice by running for congress before freakin governer of the biggest state in a time of crisis.

but i don't see what arnold has to do with psychiatry or scientology's view on psychiatric/street drugs.

For a bunch of persecuted drug users, it sure does twang of irony. We are trying to convince the public of a more educated and accepting stance on drug use, but we can't even accept other peoples religious beleifs

as you stated. you obviously dont know jackshit about scientology. i accept and explore all types of cultures and means of expression and search for some sort of truth in life but i can honestly say that i am not accepting of scientology. granted i would love to have a conversation wiith a scientologist, because i have only read about their "religion" online, but only to see how these people justify the horseshit that they believe.

of and id bet a large sum of money that Katie Holmes will be the newest addition to the scientology douchebags.

Maybe scientology is great, but a bunch of idiots follow it. Alot of religions have that and ruin it for everyone. Look at militant Islam!

I have no beef with any religion as long as it's not spreading harm. Scientology is not benign. Scientology is the anti BL. They spread false information about drugs and masquerade it as science, that's dangerous in my book.

Oh and the reason that so many of these mega celebs are drawn to scientology is not for money or publicity because they obviously need neither, but because Scientology gives MAJOR strokes to enterainers. Tells them that they're misunderstood, critical to society, etc. etc. Scientology caters to the egos of huge stars when entourages of groupies, yes men, and ass kissers are no longer up for the enormous task.

it's obvious...

anything to keep people from criticizing his latest movie (hence the "oprah" stunt).

i cannot believe that he actually said that chemical imbalances do not exist. has he taken a deep long look at himself?

and matt lauer was bitchin' for keeping cool and all, but he should have just slapped the piss out of tom cruise. it's one thing to put on airs about all the shit you know, but don't discredit a whole fucking science and the fucking host! he even told matt it was his responsibility to get the word about about ritalin, b/c matt reaches so many tv viewers. yet, how come tom cruise hasn't done a movie on the dangers of ritalin? or maybe...hey- let's get the word out about down syndrome, or something else that should be brought to the attentio of the american public...wtf?!

he used to be alright...as an actor and all. but, dude, he needs to realize that he's just above being a mediocre actor, and he's far from being an expert on anything...

what a douche.

Hmm, that was very interesting. Tom Cruise is one intense guy.

I've had some dealings with a 'program' called Avatar. The creator used to run some kind of Scientology church. I believe he took the mind excercises from Scientology and formed Avatar. It's a lot less ''out-there'' than Scientology, coz let's face it, the beliefs of Scientologists seem totally insane.

The few excercises I tried worked very well. It's like meditation, but they have clear procedures and objectives. Their aim is to help someone discreate belief systems and re-create them to the individual's advantage. Because of this 'enlightened' feeling it gives people, it can be quite easy to brainwash them to do things. (pay exorbitant amounts of $ for more knowledge). They probably COULD help people suffering from depression without the use of drugs, but at what price?

I'm not familiar with cults or how mind control works, but they sound surprisingly similar. (just done in a more professional/profitable manner).

If you believe something to be true, then it is.

Yes. Scientology is not crazy at all.

Xenu

Most famously, all of those who reach OT level III will learn about Xenu, the galactic tyrant who stacked hundreds of billions of his frozen victims around Earth's volcanoes 75 million years ago before blowing them up with hydrogen bombs and brainwashing them with a "three-D, super colossal motion picture" for 36 days. The traumatised thetans subsequently clustered around human bodies, in effect acting as invisible spiritual parasites that can only be removed using advanced Scientology techniques. Reportedly, the cost of reaching OT III approaches $360,000[4].

Scientologists argue that mentions of Xenu by non-Scientologists are "misleading characterizations made of these writings, with altered pieces of it taken out of context putting them up to ridicule." Critics of Scientology reject this, pointing out that Xenu is part of a much wider Scientology belief in alien past lives, some of which has been public knowledge for decades. For instance, the 1958 book Have You Lived Before This Life (ISBN 0884044475) documents past lives as described by individual Scientologists during auditing sessions. These included incidents such as being "deceived into a love affair with a robot decked out as a beautiful red-haired girl", being run over by a Martian bishop driving a steamroller, being transformed into an intergalactic walrus which perished after falling out of a flying saucer and being "a very happy being who strayed to the planet Nostra 23,064,000,000 years ago".

Although definite figures are hard to come by, it is fair to say that most Scientologists are not at a sufficiently high OT level to learn about Xenu; belief in Xenu cannot be regarded as a core doctrine for the majority of Scientologists. On the other hand, as already mentioned, Scientology literature does include many references to extraterrestrial past lives and internal Scientology publications are often illustrated with pictures of spaceships and oblique references to catastrophic events that happened "75 million years ago" (i.e. the Xenu incident).

Heh---almost as bad of a story as the ones he wrote for entertainment

Check this---pain and sex are both evil, and were both INVENTED by psychiatrists who were around before the earth

At the other end of the scale are what Hubbard calls "suppressive persons", whose destructive actions can directly impede the progress of Scientology and individual Scientologists. The suppressive persons par excellence are said to be psychiatrists, for whom Hubbard had a special dislike. He claimed that they had been agents of repression for billions of years and were responsible for inventing pain and sex, both of which were "artificial wavelengths" on "exact frequencies that can be manufactured". [6]

So it's like ALIEN shrinks that influence human shrinks even though humans didn't evolve until billions of years later

it was created by star trek creator L. Ron Hubbard

Wasn't it Roddenberry who created Star Trek?

Regardless, given the information quoted by hashish2020, it is rather funny that Hubbard wrote science fiction.

I've looked into Scientology on and off for a number of years, but just as entertainment. The fact that people believe this stuff numbs the mind.

People believe a lot of wacky things.

Just be careful what you say - they'll sue you at the drop of a hat.
