A 15-month-old boy was rushed to a hospital after he was accidentally served alcohol in a kids' meal at a Michigan Applebee’s, MyFoxDetroit.com reports.

Taylor Dill-Reese, the boy’s mother, said her son started acting strangely Friday at the Madison Heights restaurant after drinking from his sippy cup what she thought was apple juice. When Dill-Reese tasted the drink, it turns out it was margarita mix, according to MyFoxDetroit.com.

The boy was taken to the hospital, where he was examined by doctors. The family later learned the boy’s alcohol level was .10 – over the legal limit for an adult driver. The boy was later checked out of the hospital.

"Nobody at the table ordered alcoholic drinks," Dill-Reese told the station. "So, he definitely shouldn't have received one."
 
Yeah no shit, what kind of kid just pounds alcohol out of a sippy cup. Any normal kid would of tasken 1 sip and spit that shit right out. For the longest time I couldn't stand the fuckin taste of alcohol, honestly I still fuckin hate the taste of beer which is why I usually just pound liquor and chase the taste away right quick...unless the liquor stores closed, then I pound beer, but without a smile on my face.

Obviously it was margarita mix with alcohol in it 8)

There is more then one brand you know.

Anyway, I hope they investigate this and can catch the fuck who did it. If you do something that stupid once I bet you do equally stupid/dangerous things in your daily life. Not sure who would find this funny.
 
OH MY GOD, I FEEL HIGH, SOMEONE HAIL AN AMBULANCE... lol, I drank when I was very young before, and it was really no big deal, my parents just let me sleep it off. One fucking drink will not kill a kid. And if it were high-proof, the kid wouldn't be able to drink it down without puking.
 
^It would be the ultimate advertising gimmick, imagine all of the pussy pieces of shit that can barely handle a cosmopolitan, let alone a glass of everclear, mixed with peg, dxm, and opium.
 
^ agreed. i worked in a restaurant for a decent amount of time, and accidentally giving a kid alcohol, hell giving someone who didnt PAY for alcohol, doesnt really happen. not saying its not true, but they should definitely interrogate the mother. (who was 18? 19?)

If she was 18 or 19 she couldn't legally order the alcohol to begin with.
 
the mother probably brought it in and put it in the cup herself, to try and sue applebees or something

true, what i meant was they brought it in separately, or even before hand. im not saying thats true, but a possibility. the restaurant automatically gets butt raped if someone mistakes APPLE JUICE for alcohol. plus they would have had to get the apple juice from the bar (not sure if thats standard procedure) because they dont keep the alcohol anywhere else.

maybe it was a con by the parent(s) to have a nice lawsuit to pay their bills :D
 
Anybody who reads this and thinks that the server must have been out of their mind has obviously never worked at applebee's.

I've worked at applebee's but I don't now so I don't feel bad in explaining how this very easily could've happened and I'm pretty sure this isn't the first time that applebee's has had an incident like this. at applebees the bartender is in charge of making all drinks that aren't from the soda machine. This includes non-alcoholic drinks as well.

When a kid orders a drink unless it is a soda, a ticket is automatically printed to the bar and the bartender pours it. That would include milk, chocolate milk, and apple, and orange juice. The juices and the mixers are all kept in store n pours and I really don't know how to describe them if you haven't seen them but they are like containers with a nozzle on them to pour out the liquid. And they are not see through so applebees puts electrical tape on the nozzle to indicate whats inside. One stripe of black tape is apple juice and typically one stripe of green tape is the margarita rocks mix. Applebee's has a lot of turnover and it is quite possible that a new bartender may have been trained by a person who might not have been bartending very long and might not have had any business training. Or maybe somebody who was new may have been re-stocking and put the wrong liquids in the store n pours and a person who knew what they were doing grabbed for the apple juice and it was actually margarita mix.

It might sound crazy but ive heard of that happening at applebees locations before and have actually talked about it with my co-workers when i was bartending. nothing like that ever happened to me when i was bartending but the way it works is the person stocks at the end of their shift so that the next person doesn't really know if they did their shit right or not. what am i gonna do taste everything before i serve it? no, i have to assume that the person put what they should've put in the bottle they should've put it in. They really need to change something with their system though, I will admit that. Granted the alcoholic store n pours are kept on the rail by the liquor and the non-alcoholic store n pours are kept in the cooler, like i said if someone accidentally put the wrong liquid in while stocking then this wouldn't really matter because the bartender might not know that what they are grabbing isn't actually apple juice. Also, they try to safeguard by using white straws for non-alcoholic drinks and black straws for alcoholic drinks, but again if this was an accident that wouldn't help either. I'm not saying this is an excuse, just trying to give a glimpse into the way things work at applebee's and show that it really is too easy for this to happen.
