Toddler Rushed to Hospital After Reportedly Being Served Alcohol at Applebe Read e's

K8 so you are saying that they keep the juices in containers near the mixers like a normal bar would, ive been to applebees many times, so ive noticed that the bartenders handle anything not out of a soda tap, I worked at red robin and it was the same way

Yeah no shit, what kind of kid just pounds alcohol out of a sippy cup. Any normal kid would of tasken 1 sip and spit that shit right out.

that is such crap

alcohol is addictive and some children will drink it given the chance, one of my friends drank half a pint of snakebite as a five year old after his dad left it on the table and when i was7-8 years old i went crazy for baileys. i have always loved the taste of alcohol and went mad for it at any opportunity to have it.

just cos you dont like the taste of something doesn't mean everyone is the same:\

^well shit, baileys is just chocolate milk. but otherwise: he said any normal kid, and you and your friend are definitely the anomalies here.

MrKitty2, I haven't ever bartended anywhere but applebee's so I'm not sure how their set-up varies from a typical bar. But yes, the juices are all in store n pours and they are used for both kids drinks if a kid orders an orange juice, for example or if an adult orders a screwdriver the bartender is going to reach for the same container in both cases. So, yeah they are all in the same general area although like I said the non-alcoholic mixers are in a cooler and the margarita mixes are on the rail by the liquor bottles. But like I said the store n pours are all identical they are just color coded, so it is theoretical that they could get mixed up either by someone grabbing the wrong one or by someone putting the wrong liquid in the wrong container. All I know is that at a regular bar usually it isn't going to be such a big deal if someone accidentally gets served an alcoholic beverage. But with applebee's having kids at the restaurant and the bartender being responsible for both alcoholic and kids drinks, maybe they need to think about doing something different. Also, something I didn't mention is that at the applebee's I worked at employee's would sometimes keep drinks behind the bar that they would drink from during work. It was against the rules, but we would hide them and I never saw anyone ever get caught. We would usually put them in kids cups because you couldn't see through them and see what was actually in them. Some people would go so far to put hard liquor in them and drink on the job or it could be as innocent as just having a soda to sip on. Either way, you can see how that could turn out badly too if someone accidentally grabbed the wrong cup and gave it to a kid.

When my parents wanted some relaxation they used to put beer and whiskey in my bottle. Then again my family is Irish so maybe that's not normal.

Ya that was common practice in my area too and yeah im irish too so that might explain it. My mom said she never did it with me and wouldn't have it but a glass of wine or beer at special occasions was not out of the question. I can remember absolutely loving the taste of alcohol from a very young age so i can see a kid drinking this stuff no probs.

These fuckers should be sued like nothing else though then tossed in jail. If someone put booze in my kids drink id fucking well get very pissed off to say the least.

^ Hehe glad it isn't just me, Go Irish!

I agree with you as well, if someone did this as a prank or maybe the kid was crying and screaming and carrying on or who knows what, but if it was in fact done by the staff then the family will have a nice lawsuit on their hands.
