I have been a seasoned weed smoker for 5 years now, started at 14 now 19, the only time i really quit for longer than a week was 2 years ago and that was for a month. When i started smoking again i decided to smoke just marijuana and no tobacco, no cigarettes either. I flushed my system out and have been doing weights since that one month break, the weed seems to have no bearing on my strength, muscle gains and diet, which i proved all my sober footy mates wrong(weed is GOOD). i think the high that you get from spun weed is MUCH harder to quit because of the combination of two drugs entering your system at once, the tobacco giving you the calm head rush very quickly, and then the weed high mellowing you out shortly after. Most of my mates who smoke spun weed, smoke far too many cones in a session than needed and have never even thought about quitting when it has clearly affected parts of their life. this is making cannabis look like the devil weed to the general public when really its that nasty tobacco in the bong. I have found a canadian friend where i work whos just moved over told me the act of spinning is unheard of really in North America, because the aroma and taste of the marijuana is masked by it. What are peoples thoughts? sorry bout the length, strung out on some gear=D

Hi smokedup and welcome to Bluelight.

Your post will most likely be moved across to the Cannabis Discussion focus forum. You will find this topic is brought up there often.

Its bad.

Tobacco contains ammonia, which helps THC cross into your brain quickly. This is why you get such a instant peak, then a quick come down from weed mixed with it. This makes you want more and more, then you end up just pluggin bongs every 15mins to stay high. Not only that, when you run out of weed, you get all fiendish for it, but you really arn't, you are fiending for the tobacco hit.
Been there, done that, never do it again. Except for maybe the rare joint.

Throw the spin away, buy a vapouriser... you will be 100x better off in the long run ... use less weed over time, saving your lungs, high lasts longer. It changes the way you use cannabis totally because its not as easy as just packing up another cone and getting that instant hit.

on the north america thing-
as an american, i have NEVER heard of anybody mixing tobacco EVER.
unless blunts count because they technically have tobacco in em cause thats what a cigar wrapper is made of...
we smoke bud by itself (and i dont smoke anymore...) 100% all the time always.
The only time i've ever mixed was emptying the tobacco out of a marlboro and replacing it with bud for the stealth/convienence

I am not really sure what to do with this thread. I could of swore there was a thread like this in AusDD but a quick search didn't yield anything for me... I am reluctant to send this over to Cannabis discussion because I know they have atleast 2 or 3 threads very similar to this one, so for now I think I'll leave it here and see how we go.

Welcome to bluelight OP, I hope you stick around. :)

I am currently a habitual/dependant user of cannabis spun with tobacco and have been for a number of years. I definately agree that it increases the addictiveness of a cannabis (in particular bong smoking) habit by a fair margin, there are some benefits to the addition of tobacco but overall if you are applying a true HR approach to your cannabis use then you probably shouldn't be mixing it with tobacco. Even if tobacco wasn't worse than weed (and I think it is pretty well established to be) it has to be a lot less healthy to smoke both together than either one on its own, even so I don't imagine it will be very long before I go out to suck down some more cones of cannabis mixed with tobacco :\

i have been smoking a spun mix for many years also, except i have reached a point in bong smoking where i am able to pack .4 a bowl of weed and .4-.5 of tobacco and being able to rip it with ease. (using a black leaf beaker 65cm high /w inline ashcatcher/perc precooler 100% glass)

but now even if i pack a .2 of pure green i fucking cough my guts up, its as if the baccy just smooths the fudge outa dat green

^ Yeah I know what you mean, I had a 6 month stint with joints but have recently stated back on the cones, my pulling power isn't what it used to be but I used to be able to rip some monster cones mixed that a quarter the size straight green would be difficult for me. It is pretty uncanny how much smoother a pipe goes down with a touch of spin.

yeah my extreme q came in the mail yesterday. To me it feels like more of a high than a stone. Hard to explain but overall the high is more pleasent. Have been smoking mix for about 6 years or so and felt i needed a change. No need to destroy your lungs if there is a much better ROA. Also instead of my usual 2g mix for the night, only went through .3g and was way too basted to want anymore.

I dont know how much truth is behind this, but i'd like to hear what other people think of it. I waas told that the reason why it is easier to smoke with tobacco is this:
Tobacco constricts your blood vessles
Weed dialates them to a point
So when it is straight, it causes a rush of more blood which causes the itch. Tobacco doesn't.

The end of my meth era has forced me to see things differently. I feel as if i need to rid myself of all my addictions, tobacco being the second after meth. This was my reasoning behind the vape and I am actually quite impressed with it so far (even though its only been a day :D)

i have been looking at the xtreme Q on ebay, one thing i was concerned about.

i have used a legit volcano b4 using the bag filling method, was wondering how the xtreme Q inhaler bag was compaired to using the whip.

i would love to hear more feedback about the Q.

ps. do you put a tiny bit of water wiv ur nugs? some people do this, some dont

The whip is shit IME.

yeah my extreme q came in the mail yesterday. To me it feels like more of a high than a stone. Hard to explain but overall the high is more pleasent.

Give it a few days, it turns back into a normal stoned however I find I need around 3 bags to really get stoned. It's just as psycholoigcally addictive as smoking bongs unfortunately. If the vape is full and sitting in front of me, I'll pretty much fill bags non-stop.

im not kidding, ive used a digi volcano, and extreme Q ( the Q alot more) and its fine, i find it just as GOOD and much cheaper

Well I personally HATE it.
Luckily all of my friends do too, so I never get any spin, but I hear about it all the time, people who do it.

yeah i hate how australians always put tobacco in their joints.
i've never smoked cigarettes regularly, and the taste and headspin just kill any of the pleasure of toking a spliff for me. i love marijuana, but there have been times i've declined a joint because i find the effect of the tobacco outweighs the pleasure of the grass.
it's been enough to make me vomit a couple of times when high on opiates and someone's passed me a joint.

acidprime's comment about ammonia is interesting - i've always found that the initial "rush" (if you could call it that) of the tobacco overwhelmed and somewhat deflated the effect of the weed, almost to the point that tobacco spun joints have little effect for me.
i guess i'm used to smoking them all green thus accustomed to them being nice and strong.

as for the relevance of this thread - it may come up a lot in the cannabis discussion focus forum quite often, but it's nice to see an australian perspective. there seems to be a cultural divide on this one, and the majority of aussies do it the english/european (?) way.

i've known people to act very surprised that i roll totally green joints - sometimes folks will mention that tobacco helps it burn better, but i reckon there are much better things to mix with bud if that is the case (some finely ground tip and leaf for example)

I'd be hard pressed to find a dealer who dishes out kiff though space junk. Most bags I find are just nuggets. A spun spliff is just more social. The slower burn allows you to sit and ponder without the worry that half your stash is slowly burning away st your finger tip. A completely green spliff and everyone is rapidly tooling back so as not to waste it. I'm not a cigarette smoker but I prefer a spun joint. Mixing it for cones is just wrong ( mind you I find bongs filthy to be honest). The whole point of a cone is to ignites a small amount all at once so adding tobacco just seems pointless.

I agree with it being influence by our English heritage. You don't see bongs as often in Europe.

In the states, nobody and I mean nobody rolls joints with tobacco. As far as everyone here is concerned, that's a European thing. I do however sometimes mix a little tobacco into a packed bowl, but only if I'm in the mood. Sometimes I find it overwhelms the cannabis and I find myself needing to smoke a second bowl of just bud to get a nice effect. I've come to enjoy smoking a little tobacco with my bud though. I don't do it too often though, since it's usually cigarette tobacco and I don't like the idea of smoking all those additives.

When I started smoking pot in 93 we would smoke it strait no mix. It wasn't until 98 that I smoked my first cone of spun weed, coughed up a green nugget and proceded to pass out for about 30 sec. I didn't start mixing myself until 2000 (living with a bunch of stoners.) I've quit both over a year ago and that was fucking HARD (I replaced the weed with synthetics but I've also given that shit the flick.) I still remember that 1st spun cone to this day LOL.

haha yeah that massive head spin you get, you start fumbling around, standing/sitting becomes harder until you eventually collapse and rewaken 30 seconds later.

im at the point where i use a baccy plug (to stop weed falling thru) weed in the middle with some pressed hash and then baccy on top.
also if i just have straight baccy bongs i barely get a headspin i have a huge tolerance to baccy bongs these days, i miss dat hed spun

The head spin mixed with the weed is probably why I started smoking HEAPS more green after 2000. Before that I could take it or leave it with weed but after mixing, you just start loving it! Next thing you know you are a full on bong head! Took me 5 seperate attempts to quit.
