Hey bought a camera with a gift certificate I got from a friend.

I suck at taking photos so I am wondering if anyone could give me a few suggestions on taking good pictures.

Reason i ask in here is because I got it thinking I would share some of the dank pickups I get and I always see some amazing pictures where you can make out all the THC and hairs on the bud and some that are just poor and barely visible.

digital i assume?

well keep a steady hand throughout the pic taking, and experiment with focus. every cam is different and itll
take you a good while to find out how far/close you need to be to get clear pics.

also, if you have a magnifying glass/420 scope, then put it over the camera's lens for brilliant up-close macro shots.

oh yeah, and for close up/magnifying glass pics, dont use the flash.
make sure you're in a well lit room, and good luck!

Really? Do you need a special kind of magnifying glass or will any do?

All my shots have always sucked.

most flat lens magnifiers work well.
the convex lens ones tend to offset the image slightly and the focus goes out the window.

Does your camera have a macro mode? (sometimes it's a picture of a flower)

If so just use that mode and it will usually get all the details. Don't go in too close though because then it will be out of focus. Just get it as crisp as you can and then if you have to when you download it to your computer zoom in and crop it and all the nice details will still be there.

a mini tripod will always help with this, as well as using the macro function on your camera. lots of natural light (e.g. next to a window or even outside) will also help a LOT.

second opinion would be a good forum to get advice on this subject. :)

Dude does that really work? I went out and bought 2 magnifying glasses and I can't get your method to work no matter what I try.

not this-

(the lens is too thick/convex on these, offsets image)

the 420 scope is mainly for super duper macro shots, but the book magnifier, placed over the lens of the cam,
gives good close-up shots of bud.

it may take a while to find the focus points when using the magnifier, but you should have the cam set to Macro mode also.
find the best settings for your camera.

does that really work? i have one of those 420 scopes (got mine at radioshack for fraction of the cost) but this doesnt sound too legit

do u just shot the pic with the lense lookin through the hole where ones eye would normally go?

EDIT: woops just saw the post above ur pics SEGA. but u didnt explain how to take pics with the 420Scopes n camera

anyone who wants one of those 420 scopes dont buy them.

your paying extra money cuz it says 420 on it

go to radio shack and buy the one they have. exact same thing cept its all black

yeah, i dont have a 420 scope, i use a 30-60x magifying scope that came with an LED pen.

i meant scopes LIKE that.
n yeah you just shoot through where you would look.
but you need to use the camera's viewfinder to get the right focus distance.

I'll give it another go, thanks for the help.

Ok, shoot aparture priority, or full manual. If you have a good camera for macros (you can get really close), you'll have to set high aperture, like f/8, f/11 or even more. This will make more of the plant in focus. Set the ISO to the lowest value aviliable. That will make your pictures crisp and noise free. At shooting with the "settings" I gave you, you'll have to have plenty of light and maybe a small triod.
