Tips on taking good pictures

ok dude, now you're talking out of your ass. my sony cybershot DSC-W70 has a macro distance of 2cm.

OBVIOUSLY dedicated equipment will have better results. but don't tell these people they have to go out and buy expensive cameras to take close ups of their stash. 8)

Thanks for that mate, I was getting really confused. My point and click can do Macro shots from about 5cm. My pot or not Pic was done with a point and click.

I want to be able to take pics like Rainbow Warriors!
 
4 feet? bullshit. and HoL, this is the best i could do (the microscope is not stationary, its handheld- hence the blurryness a lil bit) -

Great input in this thread, so I just want to emphasize the value of a tripod. You can get cheap ones that work just fine. Shooting macro can be really difficult because of the focal range. Also, if you want to shoot with natural light, a tripod is essential for longer exposure times. Well worth the investment.

Also, shooting manual or aperture priority is an excellent tip.
