It's a reprint of a Daily Mail story which was bullshit, apparently. The sting wasn't about the goldfish; it was because she was selling animals without bothering to give advice about proper care. She sold a gerbil to a mentally handicapped girl who immediately suffocated it to death. And she had a cockatiel with broken bones that she left to die.

Are urinary/bladder problems even particularly common from ketamine use? Its been awhile since I had it or knew anyone who took it regularly but the only time I ever hear of these 'horrifying' side-effects are through the media. Standard hysteria is it? After all, that girl wouldn't be 'notorious' if incontinence were even remotely common.

Not common I'd say but can develop with abuse. I'm not sure about permanent irreversible damage but it can cause problems when hammered, at the height of my abuse there was some nasty stuff going on.

So the article is taking the side-effects of heavy use/abuse and presenting them as regular occurrences then? That's pretty much par for the course I suppose, but you'd expect a bit better from the Guardian.

Found this tonight though, a little out of date but worth it for the headline.

'Radioactive' paedophile suspect on the run after skipping court.

I think that the idea of paedophilles having radioactive blood must have appealed to the Mail on a subconcious level, as if one of their secret suspicions had been confirmed.

“I was having to judge people, even people like murderers or paedophiles, for example — and these people are not as different from the rest of us as we'd like to think. We demonise people in our society to make ourselves feel better. And what you learn in recovery is that there is bugger all difference.” (The Standard)

Reformed alcoholic and ex-editor of notoriously vicious British tabloid The Sun David Yelland confesses he couldn’t have edited the paper sober because ‘in recovery you have got to be completely truthful’.

Seek help. Kill yourself. Either will do.

You used to have a brain and be interesting to read. What's happened?
