Thinking About Trying Tar, Instead Of Pills

The question no one has answered.

Since this is a harm reduction forum.

How much tar does someone usually use when they first get their dope?

Like if I get a bindle, how much of one balloon should I start out with?

Smoking.

Is there a size preference?

When I get it, I know how to chase it but not how much I should try at the beginning.
Taking my tolerance into consideration.

Peace,

I'm not from the US, but from what I have read on here often is that a "bUndle" is 10-12 balloons/bags each weighing 0.06 - 0.1 gram.

I wouldn't even think about starting off with more than one. That will soon change though if you carry on with it...

Akomplice,

With smoking, the onset is pretty rapid. You'll know in a matter of seconds if the hit you took will get/keep you high. You can adjust your dose pretty easily that way.

Rule of thumb for harm reduction is start small. Even though you have quite an OC tolerance, you're dealing with a different chemical and a different ROA.

I'd say just grab a bundle and start slow. No more than a point (.1 g) to start off. Since no one can tell you the quality of the junk or how your body will process and adapt to the drug, so it's going to take a little bit of trial and error until you find your target dose.

Good luck. While some may say that the only thing separating oxy and heroin is stigma, there's definitely a difference between pharms and junk. You'll never be the same again. Not trying to talk you out of it, you have your mind set. Just remember to start low and try to space out doses as long as humanly possible.

I have a lot to say because I used to get my stuff from LA/the valley and spent a lot of time strung out before straightening out, but I'm too tired to type right now. For now just don't do it, then I'll type something. Heroin will wreck your shit, so wait till you hear what I have to say before you jump in and get fucked.

Can you expand on this? Why does a heroin addiction have to be so much different then an oxy addiction?

I'd be glad to, Mr. Blonde.

First I'll give some quick background info. I'm approaching my fifth anniversary of using opiates recreationally. I've used basically all of the common opiates in the US and some of the more rare ones. I have never tried Fent or Tramadol (haha, I know, I'm not missing much). I recently started a self-administered Suboxone taper after my first instance of realizing I'm an addict. I used successfully for several years at pretty high doses before it got the best of me. I'm currently down to 1 mg every two days, with 24 mg left in my reservoir. After today, I'm planning to go as long as I can before I using again in hopes that I may just be able to stay off the stuff (which at this point, is around 80-100 mg oxy every 48-72 hours).

We all know that there's a stigma to heroin as I mentioned in my previous post. The stigma is unfair in that heroin is seen as dirty, vile, used by the scum of the earth while oxy has little to no stigma associated with its use.

The thing is, heroin deserves the stigma. It's an awful drug that ruins lives. If anything, people should be pushing to greater stigmatize the other opiates to hopefully stop a few more people from using.

However, the cultures of the two drugs are different. High prices for oxy leaves its users with less of an opportunity to generate heavy habits. The low price of heroin facilitates heavier addictions.

So now that a user switches from oxy to H (for money reasons), they start using more H, because it's so much cheaper than oxy that they can splurge. Then they turn to the needle (if they werent already with the oxy due to money issues). They run into a problem when their H habit escalates to the cost of what oxy was thanks to tolerance.

With oxy, there's always the safety net of H if someone needs to find a cheaper way to get high. When you've hit H, there's no cheaper way, and thus, are stuck with H.

When an addict is desperate for a high and out of money, that's when things start getting really dark. You don't see it happen as much with Oxy for the simple reason of the H safety net, as I mentioned above.

There's also a small -- but important -- side note to this. The market for pharms and H is incredibly different. Many of the biggest pharms dealers in my area are grandparents looking to sell their pain meds for extra income. With H, you've got another set of folks entirely, none of whom is likely to invite you in for tea, if you catch my drift. I don't want to stereotype here, because there are hardass pharms pushers and kindhearted H dealers that exist, but on the whole you can almost guarantee someone pushing pharms is going to be less of a threat.

As a past user of H, I always felt like H was the last rung on the ladder. Basically, you can feed your addiction and keep finding ways to satiate it by switching to a cheaper, more powerful drug, but one you reach the H, there's nowhere else to go, if you get my drift.

In essence, oxycodone, oxymorphone, heroin -- they basically are the same. And addiction is an addiction. I think you assumed that I was saying that the addictions themselves are different, when really I was referring to what you may call the conditions of addiction, or the culture surrounding the addiction.

I hope that explains why I said what I said.

i started out abusing prescription pain medication. as i think most junkies have. but as pmmcl said, when you switch over to heroin.. where are you going to go when that's not enough?

and trust me.. after awhile.. nothing's ever enough.

heroin changed me into a person i fucking hate. and someone most other people fucking hate, aswell.

you will do the most dangerous, mind-numbingly idiotic shit just to cop. because it's your fucking savior. which eventually will take over every other important aspect of your life. i went from being DEATHLY afraid of needles, to poking myself 15+ times just to get a cotton rinse.

blah.. i just would never, ever, ever recommend it. considering you're already addicted to pharms, i do understand wholeheartedly.

i would just rather scoop up some suboxone for when i was dopesick. you'll function better than you normally would if you were high, i bet. i do, anyway.

but i understand that the withdrawals fucking suck. especially from synthetics, it seems. just do yourself a favor and grab some subs for when times are tough.

Man be careful, you're going to dig a deeper hole for yourself.

I'm addicted to fucking pods, and though I withdrawal and tell myself I use for pain, now I'm starting to realize that the pods own my soul.

I wonder if I'll ever feel normal again without the help of opiates.

^^^

Tar is the ONLY thing available in so-cal.

If you REALLY believe your only going to use "in between" then your so mistaken. Once you get addicted to the tar, then the pills wont really do much.

then your in a MUCH deeper whole then you first were.

good luck !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

actually your wrong. tar is not the only thing available in so cal. To the OP, I'm from LA and have been involved with the heroin scene here for a good many years. Even though everyone has already said it, I'm going to say it as well, don't get involved with dope. Your life will go from bad to worse so quick it'll shock you. Ok, since I got that out of the way, LA, and downtown especially, is overflowing with dope. If your having a hard time finding heroin in downtown LA, you probably shouldnt be doing heroin in the first place.

I really appreciate this right here ^^^. That's harm reduction. So thank you pmmcl. But...

I appreciate all the replies I've gotten, however a few things bother me.

High prices for oxy leaves its users with less of an opportunity to generate heavy habits. The low price of heroin facilitates heavier addictions.

Bullshit bro. High prices of oxy leaves it's users needing more money to feed their addiction than the average heroin addict. Price doesn't have anything to do with the heaviness of addictions. They just need more money to keep up.
That's a problem.

So now that a user switches from oxy to H (for money reasons), they start using more H, because it's so much cheaper than oxy that they can splurge

How do you figure? I guess that would make more sense if junkies had self controll. With a high oxy tolerance you don't just not buy what you need to get you off because it's too much money. You beg, borrow, steal or sell whatever you have to, to get what you need.
It's true infact that I COULD buy more heroin if I switch over, but it doesn't mean I'm gunna need more than I usually do just because I can.

They run into a problem when their H habit escalates to the cost of what oxy was thanks to tolerance.

So tolerance doesn't go up with oxy? or goes up faster with heroin?
Cause true maybe tolerace goes up and you're spending what you used to spend on Oxy, but guess what? If you hadn't have switched, you'd be paying double, tripple or even quadrouple(sp) what you used to pay. Because tolerance goes up with ANY opiate.

You act like with Oxy your tolerance doesn't go up? Because lemme just tell you it doesn't matter how expensive it is, when your tolerance goes up, you spend more. I went from being able to take a norco to taking/snorting 2-3 oxy 80's at a time. Then on top of that taking some percs or norcos to keep me where I want to be, everyday.

Now do you have any idea how much that costs?
I can't say but it's a shit load.
I still spend the money, and I already have a problem.

Some of you guys are acting like Oxy withdrawls aren't that bad. "Wait till you get sick from the dope".

How many of you heroin addicts get dope sick for more than 3 weeks?
Or more than 2 weeks even.
That's how it is with these pharms at the doses I'm dependent on.

On top of that, do you know how much healthier heroin is for your body than popping all these man made opiates? Nevermind the tylenol.

Most pill addicts hav no fucking clue what they're doing to their bodies, and most heroin addicts know exactly what they're doing to themselves.

The thing is, heroin deserves the stigma. It's an awful drug that ruins lives.

And pharm. opiates don't?

If you ask me, pharm opiates ruin more lives than heroin. Now before you jump on me for that comment, think about it.

How many heroin addicts started off popping a couple vicodin?
It usually starts there now a days. Most people don't just go from smoking weed to slamming dope.

We all know that there's a stigma to heroin as I mentioned in my previous post. The stigma is unfair in that heroin is seen as dirty, vile, used by the scum of the earth while oxy has little to no stigma associated with its use.

Ehh I wouldn't be too sure about that. There's a huge stigma associated with Oxy.

The news always calls it "Synthetic Heroin", which it's not. It's not even synthetic in the actual sense of synthetic opiates like methadone. It is semi-synthetic but it's not even semi-synthetic heroin.

But there's a huge stigma when it comes to Oxycodone. It's a lot harder to get than most drugs. Since it's so hard to get, it costs a lot more.

When an addict is desperate for a high and out of money, that's when things start getting really dark. You don't see it happen as much with Oxy for the simple reason of the H safety net, as I mentioned above.

I'm sorry but this paragraph pisses me off. Peoples lives get just as fucked up on Oxy as they do with heroin. It's not a competition. One isn't better or worse than the other.
That's like alcholics thinking they're better than coke addicts because their drug is legal. It's bullshit.

That's also a very ignorant statement. I met a 75 year old heroin dealer in rehab and she was the sweetest hispanic lady I've ever met. Maybe in your area that's how it is but it's ignorant to make a statement like that about the whole world cause it's bullshit.

The conditions are the same. All I'm gunna say.

Thanks for your reply, I just don't agree with some of the stuff you said.

Peace,

Ahhh, great advice. But the problem with that is, insurance or my insurance doesn't cover subs. So I'd be paying a shit load of money a month, for something that doesn't get me high and doesn't even feel good? Fuck that.

8 Dollars a pill for subs.

And unfortunately the withdrawls from subs are similar to methadone. I'd rather be addicted to heroin than suboxone.

Thanks for your reply tho, and it was good advice, but I tried that route. It was a waste of time.

The best thing you could do is to quit using opiates. Perhaps even go to rehab if you have money to do so. If not, go to a detox just to make sure everything is physically alright with you. I was using around 240mg of OC and about that much hydrocodone or either 100mg of methadone daily and I went to rehab and now on bupe. I suggest getting on bupe, going to a few NA meetings and staying the fuck away from opiates.

I was in the same boat as you a year ago, I could drive a few hours and score some dope and was ready to do it but I ended up overdosing twice and nearly dying so I decided that I should leave heroin the fuck alone and go to rehab. I hope you make the same choice.

I just read your post about insurance not covering bupe. Get on methadone then man. It's a fucking evil opiate, but if you want to get high then go for it. You will pay for it though, withdrawals lasted 2 months for me.

Oxycodone has more of a speedy feeling high, while dope is a more physical nodding type. I've never tried heroin, but that's what I know about its effects.

Like one may be able to be extremely high from OC and be able to function fairly normally, but I don't think it's that easy to function and do everyday tasks while nodding your ass off heroin.

Thank you wiggi

I've been to rehab every year for 3 years. 30 days, detox and residential.
Obviously it didn't work.
I tried suboxone, too much money for something that doesn't give me what I want.

And I've also tried methadone, for fun not MMT. I think it sucks ass. And I'd rather be addicted to heroin than methadone. I'd rather be addicted to anything than methadone.

My withdrawls last 2-3+ weeks. That is before they even start to go away.
I've experienced withdrawls before, i'm not an opiate rookie at all. I've used almost every one except heroin.
Talwin and stadol-Opana-dilaudid-Fent pathces and Actiq's, and whatever else you wanna name. It's not like I've never experienced a high similar to heroin before.

Dude your fucking done for. All of these people are just trying to talk a little sense into you and all you can do is pick apart their posts and offer some dumbshit perspective of an oxy head when they have been to heroin hell and back.

Go start on dope, but you will never crawl back considering how weak you were with scripts. Trust me, the 'high' from oxy (if you can even call it that) sucks compared to heroin. If you couldn't handle your shit on OC's then you are definitely going deeper down the rabbit hole with dope. My advice is just to give it up, get on MMT since its obvious you need opiates to function (nothing wrong with that), and start a semi normal life again.

I nod on oxycodone. Shit I used to nodd on hydrocodone. I still can but I have to take 20+ norco 10's and lay on my back lol, haven't tried in a while but yeah, almost all opiates make you nod.

I never said that you were opiate naive, I have no idea where you got that from. I've used just about every mainstream opiate minus Opana and heroin, am I proud of that? Fuck no. You can go to rehab a hundred times and relapse after getting out if you really do not want to get clean. If you want to stay clean and make it the most important thing in your life then you will stay clean. We are all trying to help you man but you really don't seem to give a fuck, perhaps you're high.

Try heroin, hit rock bottom, suck a few dicks for a couple bags of dope and maybe you will make it out alive. Then again there's a good chance you will never stop using. It's all up to you man. All these people are trying to tell you to leave heroin alone and you just won't listen. We have been there, we know what addiction is like and it literally hurts me to see someone being so stubborn not to realize what they are going to do to themselves, family, and friends. Do what you want man. You will look back at this and think damn, those guys were right.

So tolerance doesn't go up with oxy? or goes up faster with heroin?

He's not saying that with Oxy your tolerance will go up. He is simply saying that if you are paying out the ass for Oxy's, in general your tolerance won't rise as quickly as it would if you are using a cheaper opiate. It's obvious that you grew a large tolerance to oxycodone even when you had to pay quite a bit for it.

With heroin you'd likely have even less control of your addiction because with the cheaper price it would be easy to just keep upping your dosages in an attempt to get high.

Also, another thing to keep in mind is that eventually there comes a day where no amount of opiate will give you euphoric effects, and you're just chasing a worthless high. That day will likely come much sooner if you switch to heroin, and by then you'll likely be in a lot deeper.

The decision is yours though, and in the end you're probably gonna switch because it seems more reasonable. But many people would likely vouch that it is a step in the wrong direction.
