I've been thinking of getting an external HDD for ages to back up Uni stuff and music so I just bought this (can't be bothered dragging up the recently bought thread), because it also seemed like an awesome idea to have one that could play AVI files through my TV.

Oh and it has a 1TB Western Digital HDD pre-installed so I don't have to buy one separately and deal with a screw driver. Which would just end in disaster and broken electronics.

Woops, didn't expect to post the whole picture. Deal with it though, I'm lazy.

they are a great invention... in general, i have found WD HDD's a bit dodgy...

i had an iomega one, that died after about a year...

I have the Western Digital version at the moment hooked up to a WD 1TB HDD and it works all good and that

If there is a problem with it I just go onto the website and download the updated drivers and all is good in the world

However I am currently working on building a rack unit that has 3 seperate HDD's in it one each for AVI's, MP3's and Image files. You can get all the kit you need at Capitol Square in the near china town

Still - Western Digital is good bang for your nerd buck
