I'm after a fair bit of cool shit now. We took out a fair chunk of moolah of investment money (money I 'won' in a court case for unlawful dismissal cause of my injury and shit, mainly going to be there to [help] pay for our children's schooling etc. All depends if I'm fit enough to work 'ever again', at least full time, hope to be working part time some time, just need to find a bloody employer wanting to employ injured old me).

So, we're looking at buying a new car soon'ish, I just bought a motorola XOOM, was debating either that or an asus eee tranformer but both have keyboards and stuff, 3.1 update is out for XOOM, it's pretty quick, NFI if it's the 'fastest' android tablet and stuff now but don't care, as long as I'm happy with it, all good. Bought it from USA with priority shipping, hope to get it this week or mon/tue.

Also want to get it HOPEFULLY before Emma gives birth, due date is next week but that means any time from NOW til 1-2 weeks, Cassie was born 1 hour into the due date so it might mean our next *and final!* bub is born on the due date?

Soooooo, I want other cool shit, no idea what. Don't use my phone enough anymore to upgrade from the Nokia X6 I got last year, samsung galaxy is tempting but it's more of a impulse buy so bleh to that, need ideas for cool shit! I was thinking of getting a "greatwall" car when they come to Aus but further reading about the 'new' chinese made cars make the jury still out if it's a good buy or not. The c50 I was looking at LOOKS nice but it may not be good mechanically/engineered, not sure yet, need to see hands on reviews of peeps who have bought them, when they come out of course! Not sure if they are being sold overseas YET due to being more concerned about at home matters, Emma's near birth date and I've joined some (disability) job networks and stuff looking to see if I can get part time computer/server/network stuff, if not, seriously considering doing 'traffic management', holding a speed sign won't be too stressful on my injury and/or chronic pain I have....

But peoples! Tell me (us) what cool shit to buy whilst I still have some money to spend on LOL The investment monies is tied up in yearly maturity accounts so can't touch it (rightly so! I don't wanna spend our child's and our future money now heh) for another 12 months, and cut down disability pension due to the savings means we don't have MUCH disposable income like I'm used to, I remember the good days of spending $1K/week at the pub + clubs every week of the year heh. Oh well, I may return to working income one day! For now, it's yearly interest money gives us moolah once a year to spend 'big', kind of like a tax return but happens in May :P

Can anyone tell that my [morning] oxycontin dose is kicking in... We're off shopping soon so had my pain meds so I'm not in pain when we shop since the colder weather means my pain increases as I've found out over the past few years. But no huge complaints, I do get oxycontin to equalise the pain, much better than street drug 'fun', at least for me it is :) 20+ years of street drugs means I've sampled most (all) of the stuff I need to, so there isn't much left to 'surprise' me cept the newer RCs etc. So, I don't mind "jumping" to pharm pain meds which are NEEDED anyway, just the bonus here and there of the *ahem* come on isn't something I don't mind HA

So, COOL SHIT peoples! Tellllllll meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

*edit* Just saw who posted on this page a lot *sheds a tear* :(

In your position, having some extra cash to start the game. Why don't you get into trading, turn a profit get addicted learn the system better and buy whatever toys you want anytime. Otherwise the money could run out too quick spending it all on gadgets.

I trade with Bell Direct and it's easer than you might think........

I worked with an ASX research company for years, I don't think it could be easier than I know ;) It's just never held any appeal but I've actually began to be interested in it of late and printed out some reading material. So I might actually finally get into day trading. It's just a bitch trying to learn 'new stuff' with being a daddy, pregnant wife and the stupid pain but as said, I'm getting better (mentally + physically) of late so I think I might be able to actually 'do it' now.

I've always had a mantra, whatever you do, do it well and I've never had motivation nor time (either due to the ironic thing of working in the ASX info company and 'playing' or injury related) to do trading so I never bothered but now that I *should* be able to do it well, I will :D Do you have any links you think I'd do well to read, PM them to me if you like? Ta :)

Yeh I'll flick you a PM with a few links of stuff worth reading when I get home from work later :)

I'd pass on day trading (stocks, options and CFD's etc) unless you really want to stay glued to a monitor and stressing and fretting about if you should buy or hold or what woud of happened if you had of done this or didn't do that; the list goes on.

I've been there and its no way to live.

If you want to invest buy into some strong businesses and ones that generate good constant dividends etc and hold on to them for the long term, after 10 years i'd be shocked if you didn't generate 12-18% return. Simple rule about buying shares - look at the fundamentals how much debt has it got and how much money does it generate annually.

Think of the stock as a guy you met in he street. If that guys runs a business with a lot of debt, hardly any current assets and looses money yearly but stays going because the government gives him money - would you give him your money when he asked you for some of it? Of course not but a lot of people who hold shares and most superannuation funds hold shares in Qantas and they are exactly the same as the guy in the street I just described.

I want the Monster Beats Pro Headphones by Dr Dre, but there is no way I'm paying $700...

Maybe Someone can help.
Im stuck on which path i should go.
Do i go the Tablet PC:
http://www.tabletpc.com.au/product/104/48446/fujitsu-lifebook-t901

Or do i go the Desktop PC:
PCPP (Powerplays) Beast/Beastie (depending on $)

They both how probs and cons:
-.Already have a Laptop
-.Dont have a Desktop
-.Laptop dont have wacom Screen for easy notetaking/Drawing
-.Will i really use it for those things all that much?
-.Will it have the ability to handle upcoming games (eg.d3)
-.Will beable to handle music production with alot more ease
-.ability to easily upgrade
