nice one topcat! ep 10 was the best yet

rushing to get settled with my pasta to watch this, but just wanted to post that the 2nd part of Charlie Brooker's Black Mirror is on in 10 minutes at 9.30pm on Channel 4 tonight. it doesn't follow on from the 1st one to the best of my knowledge.

Radio Times Infoz

blurb:

2/3. Dark satire set in a future reality where everyone is confined to a life of physical drudgery - unless they can impress the judges of a popular talent show. Written by Charlie Brooker and Konnie Huq, and starring Daniel Kaluuya, Rupert Everett, Jessica Brown Findlay, Julia Davis and Ashley Thoma

Just as The X Factor departs our screens, Channel 4 dances on its grave with this poison-pen satire. Written by Charlie Brooker and Konnie Huq (his wife of 16 months), it imagines a depressing future where our hero Bing (Daniel Kaluuya) is one of millions who ride exercise bikes in gyms all day while watching an X Factor-ish talent show called Hot Shot.

It’s a resoundingly bleak world they’ve created: people live in cells with walls of interactive video screens playing ads you must pay to avoid; everyone eats from vending machines; and everyone wears grey tracksuits, unless they commit the crime of getting fat, in which case they wear yellow smocks and appear on a brutal game show called Botherguts.

Bing’s dreary existence is lightened when he meets beautiful Abi (Jessica Brown Findlay from Downton Abbey) and sees a way out of the drudgery for her, via a place on Hot Shot. The story evolves (very slowly, mind you) as a haunting allegory about the way TV exploits and humiliates us, and the production design is superbly grim. Shame the targets feel big and easy.

this has probably been mentioned in depth before but i cant be arsed reading this entire thread.......I have BREAKING BAD seasons 1 + 2

This has been highly recommended to me............do my fellow bluelighters concur

good. i have 7 days in a premier inn (alan partridge stylee) with the bird to amuse ourselves in the newyear...this should kill a day and a half!.....

I hope drugs and sex are on the agenda for the rest of the week. ;)

Misfits is still decent. Really looking forward to This is England '88, on Tuesday.

Family Guy and American Dad are more mindnumbing than funny to me now.

This is England '88 might be decent.

'Man v Food' on Dave and the Good Food channel is my current fave on TV - Adam Richman, the host is quality
Massive fan of Family Guy too

'Giggedy'

The second ep of black mirror was weird as fuck.

I always knew it was going to be, but it was even weirder than I could have thought. I still thought it was pretty good though, especially the timing of it (on directly after the X-Factor final apparently lol).

Edit - Last episode looks set to be just as weird - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3bFCqK81s7Y

That programme makes me so hungry that if I've just eaten a big ass meal and feel uncomfortably full, I'll stick an episode on and within 15 minutes I'll feel fine - it tricks my brain into wanting food even though It's the last thing I want. Plus it's funny as fuck to boot
