The What's Good on TV Thread ver. piracy ftw

Upgrade uTorrent and click Play, after it's started downloading. It will think for a minute, then play the file from the beginning, as it gets all the parts in order, after you press play. Works perfectly.

I'll give that a go, like PTCH I would have though it wouldn't work, but I guess if you have the bits at the beginning then it might be OK. I didn't think you could play a partial AVI either, not without messing with the headers, but it's ages since I tried.
 
I have the BB se5 ep01 in my downloads, like the torrent. But when I try to download with uTorrent it's not there when I go to add file.. Odd.

I'm fairly sure that VLC will let you do this. It'll moan that the file's broken and offer to fix it but tell it not to and it should just spew out whatever it can interpret.
 
I can't believe no one has discovered the stream option, in uTorrent. It's been there for a year or two. I think people will be pleasantly surprised.
 
I saw it was there but never used it because I just assumed it would fail or there'd be glitches and stuff. I'll give it a go tho.

Anyone having problems with MP4 format at all? ... since it's all mainly that and mkv rather than XVID?

I'm finding that when playing stuff straight from USB on my telly, more files are out of synch and some occasionally wont play at all, but more so than XVID ever was.
 
lawdy, you changed your name! (thanks for the links too btw ... I think I've pretty much solved the problem by pausing and restarting the file when it's in play mode a few times at the beginning ... seems to have worked on everything so far anyways ... )

Anyone watching the 2nd season of Wilfred atm? It's not nearly as funny as the first one unfortunately, but I love the premise still. Hopefully it'll get a 3rd and the writing will pick up a bit, because I'd hate it to be cancelled. it had a great cameo from Robin Williams at the beginning of the season too

I have just watched the first two series of Deadwood. Absolutly class show. HBO do it better than anyone !!!

It's annoying me a little that AVIs are becoming less common, as my TV doesn't play them. I just use a free piece of software to re-encode .MP4s to .AVI.
 
Japanese animated film called Paprika premier on Film 4 right now, apparently the inspiration for Inception.

Watching it on +1 as well now you mention it. I put the computer away to watch it but I've found myself back on here so it's not doing a good enough job of captivating me obviously. You enjoying it?

No, I'm doing some work on my computer and it's in Japanese so I can't follow it by listening in when I'm looking at the screen... So I gave up.

I can definitely see the Inception influences, lots of scenes are very reminiscent of it. I love that film I need to watch it again only saw it when it first came out at the cinema.
