The What's Good on European TV Thread Vs. What's Knock to Watch??

Game of Thrones for me, but it is right up my street. I'd place Breaking Bad above The Wire though.

I love game of thrones, only downfall was season 3, so much stuff going on all over the place

Then just watch them both. Getting into a series doesn't mean replacing literally everything else with it...

Exactly

So... more people watch football than watch Breaking Bad. Ok. So what? I still don't understand what that has to do with anything at all.

Exactly, who gives a fuck. very weird

most of the time i cant stand sports, i dont get the fuss over it

Anyone seen the Catfish documentary?

Not seen it but it is on the tube

I always mean to check it out, however 40 mins is pushing it for the TV show.So I am not sure how much more you could glean from an extra 47 mins in movie form. But will watch it on a rainy day

As a general rule following on from modern TV discussion, whilst the writing is way better than the old shows especially the HBO stuff. I find it hard to stay with story arcs. Sports always holds my attention. as well as a good 22 min comedy like "The Cleveland Show" or Seinfeld :)

TLM: If you don't like Breaking Bad, I'll come to your place of residence, with a bag full of cash. Fuck sports, watch the best thing ever put on TV. I really do mean that. If anyone can recommend something better than Breaking Bad, then you need to do it, because the withdrawals are going to be harsh.

Haha, said this on FB earlier to someone, but I'm now measuring my free time in episodes of Breaking Bad I can watch before I have to do other shit. It's another case of my best friend mentioning a show to me years ago, banging on about it for ages, and then me finally watching it. Dunno why I keep doing it, she's always spot on, but I like watching through shows in one long go.

Can't think of anything I've enjoyed this much to keep the withdrawals at bay, before this I watched through Arrested Development a lot, and Always Sunny..., but they're obviously completely different, though the latest season of AD had a lot of weird motifs running throughout as well as a kinda whodunnit sort of thing.

I can never get into watching sports, apart from the World Cup and only then with copious amounts of alcohol until England get knocked out. Keep meaning to go see Hull Tigers play but effort so far.

I don't believe that the "best" music is what tops sales charts or radio playlists, why should TV be any different?

Breaking Bad is brilliant. Sportball is shit, especially American Sportball.

Good lad. ;)

Looking forward to it treacle :)

It will certainly test my resolve to tune out after 30 off mins of a TV show when my mind starts to wonder and i start to think of work or Sports lol

30 mins tends to be my limit, hence my insane love for "Curb your enthusiasm "

I know most of you here are HBO whores & I must have mentioned it before but there is a great show called
John From Cinncinnati which was written by the same bloke who wrote deadwood

Only lasted 10 episodes but I loved it and it held my attention for an hour each time !

The Luvvies over at the Guardian hae just discovered it

Well worth 10 hours of anyones time IMHO

Double Bill of "Bullseye" on Challenge Tv tonight at 10pm

Along with "University Challenge" Bully has to be the best quiz ever

Challenge TV gets consistently shit ratings so I refuse to watch it.

I'll make an exception for a bit of Bully though..."and here they are they're so appealing! Okay dollies, do your dealing!" etc love it, =D

Watched the first episode of John From Cincinnati. For the first half hour we were like wtf is this? but during the second half it really gets going and comes together. We were left intrigued and entertained enough to want to watch the rest. Yeah very original story, I have no idea where it's going which is a very good thing.

Thanks for recommending it TLM. :)

If you like real life prison programmes then one has just started at 9pm on Pick TV 'Inside:Teen Lockdown'.
It is filmed inside a juvenile maximum security correctional facility in Indiana.

I love shows like that, very open to personal interpretation

Downloaded episode 3 of low winter sun twice now, both times just garbled video. Just realised it's not fucking out yet :|

I enjoyed the first two episodes, don't think it's a masterpiece like The Wire, Breaking Bad and GoT, it's definitely got something going for it though, maybe in the same league as Dexter but there's nothing actually irritating about it, and there doesn't seem to be a gimmick. Nice to see Detroit too, after enjoying their techno all these years, even if the place is fucked now (looks like it really is).

Decent acting, plot, etc. so far.
