First two seasons are excellent. Both take about three or four episodes to get up to speed.

The third season is a little slower, IMO. The political dimension is reduced and the new characters are less interesting. There's only been two episodes that really grabbed me. Hoping the finales will redeem the season.

Definitely worth checking out though.

Yeah same, 3rd season is slow, and too much stuff going on. few of the endings have been really good

Animation-wise, I strongly recommend 'Archer.' American comedy spoof-spy-action cartoon, brilliantly done, very clever dialogue. Quite fast paced, good for those of us with short attention spans.

The actor that plays Archer (Jon Benjamin) also made & stars in Jon Benjamin Has A Van. Aside from being comedy, there is no way to describe to that series, it's just brilliant (IMO).

If you enjoyed "The Thick of It" make sure you watch "In The Loop," the film based on the series.

I managed to get hooked on Workaholics recently too, when in withdrawals from Breaking Bad and The Office US, and quickly got through it.

Breaking Bad is the only long-running drama that's managed to really captivate me... pretty much ever. The Walking Dead kept my interest for 2 seasons and GoT for one, so they've been honourable exceptions.

Totally agree he is a brilliant actor. currently watching FBI files on ID. when it gets past 3 there is nothing to watch on tv except the crime channels.

You're about the 20th person to recommend Dexter to me based on my existing tastes, so I think it's time I took a punt! :)

I watched the first series of Dexter over the last two days, after being brainwashed into it by Dan. So I agree, it's very watchable. Series 2 coming up.

I'm not a fan of the music and the writing is disappointing at times. A bit too much cheese for my taste, and a little predictable (it didn't take long to guess the identity of the ice truck killer). But there's enough good stuff to keep it entertaining.

The identity of the killer each season is rarely hidden. It's more about the increasingly fukked up situations that the boy Dexter gets himself into and the somewhat quirky subject matter. Is kinda cheesy but is the gooooood kinda cheese, I'd say.

The cheese that stuck in my throat was when they went to Dexter's biological dad's house to clear it and they started dancing to rock music while they worked. It just went on for too long :\ if Dexter had any balls the record player would be out the window!

Dexter is a funny ol' chap. He's a lot darker in some seasons than he is in others. First one is fairly fluffy but he does show his teeth later on. I kinda like the cheese factor of veering between homicidal maniac and (sort of) committed family man who just wants his daddy back actually. It's like all those nauseatingly vomitous US shows about family values only one member of the family likes to kill folk in rather kinky stylee on a regular basis. That and Dexter is just Da Man. Am very fond of that David Wossisface who plays him too. Could probably watch him in anything. Within reason.

Michael C. Hall. think he had cancer during one of the seasons. the dexter series has stuck in my mind more than breaking bad for some reason. very well written, i love it

Dexter is one of my favourites. Loved the first few seasons but what the hell happened to season 6? Was a terrible season but slightly made up for it with the last one.
