Heh, when I had a Bonnie chopper, within the first fortnight I'd lost the rear numberplate, an exhaust bracket and a rear footpeg - due to the vibrations from the notoriously unbalanced Meriden crankshafts. Legend has it that in those days, the factory had one bloke that did the crank balancing - when he was off, any old shite got through. Dunno how true it is, but it makes for a bloody good story :)

The most "fun" car I've ever driven (apart from the RX-8 ) was a workmate's Impreza WRX STi. He gave me a drive of it one lunchtime (very trusting!) and I spent a glorious half an hour tearing the arse out of her along quiet country roads. The turbo on those things is fucking addictive and great fun.

Still can't beat a bike for sheer exhilaration and acceleration though.

Nice, i love the RX8s, deffo prefer the look of a 7 though. the turbo on those WRX is fun indeed, also got the chance to take one for a rip around country roads, lots of fun. love the sound
 
The thing that gets me about powerful cars is that unless you happen to be on the 'upyering' circuit, driving them to anything like their full potential on our roads poses a significant danger to other road users. At least on a bike, the only cunt you're likely to kill is yerself. Just think about that when you're taking yer heavy steel cages for a burnout on public roads, especially country ones...
 
It's absolutely possible to drive fast safely, y'know. As long as you don't allow yourself to get caught up with "racing", you can still floor it on the empty straights and have fun on corners with good visibility of the other side.

When I used to race people, I'd do it coming off a local roundabout onto a 70mph dual carriageway. If the road was empty, I'd floor it to about 80 then back off. The other guy (or girl) would inevitable come screaming past a few seconds later at 100mph thinking he/she's won, but at least I knew I wasn't endangering anybody. It's not about how fast you dare go, it's about how quickly you can get to the speed limit.

It's all about knowing when to reign it in. If in ANY doubt, slow down.

Haha, I know, I'm only pulling yer pissers :) As a young biker I used to hate Volvo drivers cos they were statistically more likely to kill bikers. Fast forward 10 years and I acquired a Volvo 440 1.8 injection - whilst not a 'performance' car by any stretch of the imagination, it was fuckin fun and surprisingly quick for a Swedish lump of metal. I would deffo have one again..

I had my Volvo 440 over 10 years ago now, and that was a decade after I called myself 'a young biker'.. So yer point is? =D :p

Anyway, I is still young at heart innit bruv..

(Although that would still mean I was around 30 when I called myself a ' young biker' - so point taken... )

30s young still though definitely.... Well....young compared to 50 :)

Reminds me of an only fools and horses episode where Rodney is dating a 40 years old and del asks him wtf hes doing and he says "what'swrong with dating a 40 year old". To which del replies " nothing...... If you happen to be 50" :)

To which grandad chips in....."even I'd have to think twice!!"
