The 'What Have You Bought Recently?' Thread - Because Summer Is a Show Off

So far I must have placed around 8 items of various sizes and materials into said bin and it has coped fantastically so far.
Don't know why I never thought of buying one before. All my debris is now consolidated into one sleek black metal bin as opposed to lying in random spots around my room.
I think that as far as life goes this bin is a real game changer.

Haha, love it! It's the simple things in life, eh?

Tells the time, and generally informs me of what is going on on my phone (emails, texts, other notifications, alarms etc) without me having to get it out of my pocket. It also has GPS and there is an Endomondo app for it, so it'll replace my Garmin watch when I start running / cycling again. Garmin was good but I've fucked it by leaving the battery flat on it for too long, doesn't hold enough charge for more than about 2km now!

So it does the same as a pedometer too? What about blood pressure, heart rate etc?

Any chance of screen shots of the text / email thingy? Any pics actually of it in action would be quite interesting! I love the idea of this technology but will leave it to my sons to adopt - who will not indulge me in pics, come on Josh, indulge me :D

It's more than just a pedometer because it has GPS (although it also has a gyro so it does count steps too), so you get a nice accurate map plot of your run, with graphs and stuff. It doesn't do heartrate, which my Garmin did do (via an uncomfortable chest strap), but since my heartrate goes up to about 170bpm after about 30 seconds of running and stays there til about half an hour after I stop, I don't find the information that useful anyway (just worrying instead).

Surprisingly hard to take photos of notifications on it, I had to email myself. The left shot shows a notification, the right shows it opened (the dodgy background is my Google+ profile pic heh), if the email was longer you'd be able to scroll it.

Best feature of it really is that it has the same "ok google" voice control (as well as capacitive touch screen) you get on Anrdoid phones these days. So setting alarms, sending emails texts is really easy, and makes you look like a massive nerd in public. Good job I don't go out much then :D

Fucking hell that is a bit on the worrying side. Does it have and ECG trace and pull out defibrilator paddles as well.....just to be on the safe side? (said only partly in jest)

Haha, well maybe that is a slight exaggeration, but my heart rate is quite high generally anyway, resting rate of 70-75, and a tendency to go tachy as soon as something goes wrong inside me. When I had my subtotal, it took over 6 weeks for my heart rate to drop below 100, I remember it well because we had a little celebration on the ward.

purchased second hand laptop (halfway through its warranty). nothing spectacular, but i bought it for the old folks so they may finally come about to using the internetz. now time to set up parental protection.... :sus:

I had to buy a new electric kettle yesterday, old one blew up, caput it did. Anyhoo the new one is shiny red and stainless steel. Works like an electric kettle :\
