Television The Walking Dead

It's just so disappointing to see how the show started (the pilot) and to see where its ended up. That first episode was amazing - the scene where the black guy has his wife in his rifle scope was one of the most powerful television moments that I can remember. Now, it's like a Lifetime drama with zombies thrown in every once in awhile.

That first episode was particularly powerful, the rest kinda fell short.

What's going on with Mirle? Where has Morgan and his son been? The show is not making use of the two best characters! Though I enjoyed the season premiere, it was a little slow. Though I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt, I know their just setting up for the rest of the season.

fucking slow episode. lots of hacking zombies and looking for a girl who managed to get lost a 1/4 mile away?

ill still watch it though, only sunday show worth watching now

I really loved last season, but I wasn't even interested in watching last nights episode, so I didn't. Last season had me screeching and almost having panic attacks waiting for the new episodes, but now I was just like blah. Last season too short, and too much time between now and then.

-shrug-

PB is still watching it so I'm sure I'll catch an episode or two, but it's not a priority of mine. Actually, none of the shows I watched last year I seem to give a shit about. Not Boardwalk Empire, not The Walking Dead, not anything. lame.

Yeah, I'm done with this show. All of the characters are bumbling retards and the drama all feels forced and ridiculous. Maybe I just expect too much from a show on AMC (the home of Breaking Bad and Mad Men), but I just can't get past how much I hate the characters/acting/directing/writing.

I definitely feel ya on this, i mean it's a fuckin zombie apocalypse, and you have people caring more about 'deep' convos for drama and arguing. I like well written scripts, breaking bad had that but i never watched Mad Men... how was that?

Man, the last episode was so boring and the ending was total bullshit (Herp, we're trapped behind a metal gate that for some that for some reason isn't protecting a door or anything - why did someone install a gate that doesn't protect anything?). I think the fat guy is gonna die. I kinda hope that all the characters die, but that's just wishful thinking on my part.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy watching this show - the same way I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy watching car wrecks. Yeah, it's terrible, but that's what makes it fun to watch. Kinda why I keep watching True Blood, although I'd argue that Walking Dead is better despite the lack of boobs/attractive females (Sarah Wayne Callies doesn't have much to work with and that blonde chick is far too annoying).

True Blood is shit imo. ^ How was Mad Men?

same here. I gave it another chance but episode 2 was just as bad as the first, so I doubt if I'll be watching any more. (until the next time, hah!)

the scene where Rick was trying to talk the Sheriff out of going back to find his wife -- in that condition, with what was at stake -- was excruciatingly bad and shouldn't have even happened, let alone take up 10 minutes.

I fucking hate all the characters now, apart from old RV guy. he's the only one with any sense.

Yeah, TB's pretty bad. As for Mad Men, I guess it kinda depends. It's definitely a much more subtle show than Breaking Bad, where the drama feels like its all about to boil over any second - in Mad Men the pace is slow and deliberate. Not many people I've recommend watch the show have ended up enjoying it, but it's very well-written/acted/directed/etc.

Spot on, I feel much the same way. Having just finished watching the entire Breaking Bad series in a matter of months, switching over to Mad Men has been abrupt, for lack of a better term. Not to say it's bad, just . . . different. I'll return to it one day as the quality is evident, just have to be in the right mood to enjoy it.

Mad Men is worth a watch. Joan is such a babe. I wanna be like don draper, that guy is smooth and cool as fuck. would make a good James bond i reckon

^ He got passed up for the Role of Superman in the upcoming Zack Snyder film, which kinda pissed me off. Jon Hamm is basically Superman already.

sounds like i'll enjoy it, i had wanted to see it when it first came out, then i kinda forgot about it until now... I'm always looking for well put together story, people just buy up all the garbage they throw out there, but I'm a 'harsh' critique

I'll agree that the last two episodes, specially that last episode, have been "walking" at too much of an excruciating slow pace for TV these days

however, if you guys aren't interested in the show because it focuses on human drama, I would seriously just get out right now

more than a piece of horror media, TWD has always been about human drama. while I agree that it's been boring, I don't think you will ever feel fulfilled on this show's upcoming diet if you are not for the human drama aspect

felix = I agree. Dale (the old RV guy) is such an amazing character. one of my favorite comic book characters in the series. just wait till you see who he is (most likely) going to hook up with ;) ;) ;)

tonight ep was pretty predictable, but i still enjoy watching it. this and family guy and occasionally the eagles are the only thing i watch sunday anyway

right decision? that's horrible, mang! you gotta take your chances running instead of murdering a man in cold-blood for zombie chow, if you want to not stray from moral ambiguity!

but back-and-forth banters like this are why I am obsessed with the Walking Dead so much, more so the comic book obviously. because the main, core aspects deal with human drama and the gray instead of the black and white of ethics + morals

that's why the kid had to live. what the real Rick would have said is that Carl and kids like him MUST live, because they are the future. and they must be taught the RIGHT way, not the WRONG way

in the comic, Rick becomes the group's brutal leader and he has one policy: if you KILL, then you ARE KILLED. executed. once Rick finds out what Shane has done, he will finally and truly start making that (otherwise normal and usual) ascension into being a well-rounded, well-produced main character!

They do present some interesting moral dilemmas, but the hamfisted direction, laughable script, and cheesy acting tends to detract from it.
