so what do ppl think of the blu-ray issue with ps3, cosidering the price of the console itself because of it and from what i've read most film studios seem to be adopting hd-dvd instead? i'm yet to get a 360 yet...but the add on hd-dvd future option is making it the choice so far when i actually grab a next gen console.

Personally i hate the fact that the consumer is going to pay out the ass for a PS3 because of shit they dont need.
eg. Blu-ray only because they want to own HD formats and the Cell chips cos of the hype. Cells are technology masturbation with the yields on the chips getting under 20% ($ per TerraFlop is shithouse)

so what do you think? 360 + the add on hd- dvd? i know nothing but i doubt the graphics on p3 are going to be any more superior than the 360 judging by the xbox vs ps2 look. is it going to come down to quantity of games again for choosing sony?

Good games can sell shit hardware.
Im a pretty fanatic gamer and the $ doesnt bother me, but i just havnt seen a single title on the Xbox360 that compells me to own one (Xbox arcade is tempting though). Ive already a backlog of 1/2 dozen games that are PS3 only that I really want.
Jury is still out for me on the Revolution but its looking a lot stronger than i would have initially thought.
Which consoles (if any) are people going to buy?

I think i'd refuse to play some games simply because of this kinda shite.
For those who dont know, the new battlefield dynamically streams in advertising and places in the game for all to see. Ok, you've already paid for the game and then it also downloads spam on your dime and then plasters it into your game - how fucked is that?
It gets even better ...
It also registers you online with a unique number and sends back statistics on how long you looked at their advertisements, when exactly you looked at them, from what precise angle they were viewed, how far away from the ad you were standing and so forth.
Some advertising is already targeted by geo-location and by time of day, but it wont be long before this shit starts putting together a profile.
Im not much into linking-hands and singing koombya in protest but if you DO NOT BUY THESE GAMES it will kill this BS as a revenue option for game makers and they wont do it.
If you've already been dumb enough to do so, take it back and say you do not wish purchase spyware/adware

I played Marvel vs. Capcom 2 for the first time in about a year and not only have I not lost it, but I won five challenge matches! Must be muscle memory from all that Tekken whoring at uni. :D

November 1st. Can get it via gametap if you live in the states and subscribe as of oct 17 - so it is finished. It's an episodic game, so they release it in small self-contained 'episodes'. The first episode comes out (in general) on Nov 1st, with releases around once a month into next year.

I may have to rejoin... it has been a year since I last played and although I cleverly gave away all my gold (and I *think* all of my high level equipment) to provide further incentive to stay away...

Rockstar of GTA and Hot Coffee fame released Bully lately with heaps of controversy about violence in schools etc ...

Yeah I rejoined on a newish server and started from scratch with a few friends. It's kind of frustrating killing Hogger for the 30th time but eh. The point I'd reached at end game meant that I would have had to quit my life to get any further so it stopped being much fun.

A cool little company called Telltale is making it. They have been making adventure games and releasing them in episodic format. This is what the new Sam and Max is going to be like. I'm not sure if this is a good thing or if it will just end up costing more for a full length game in the long run... I'm pretty screwed anyways 'cause I don't think my computer will run it. Hope the voices sound similar to the original.
