Lucas Arts, I loved their games, even when I was 10 and needed walkthroughs. I still do enjoy playing them thanks to ScummVM.

I downloaded some emus of a series of games last week (plus about 100 others - yay for emus) that are among my fondest memories of younger console gaming - Desert Strike and Jungle Strike. Wasn't quite as mesmerising, but still, retro never dies!

Although a lot can be said for modern gaming - having my first go at Oblivion at the moment, haven't decided if it is better than Morrowind yet, but it's good so far. It's astounding how far graphics go when you have a break from gaming! Prey is another. Haven't played BF2 yetalone BF2142 yet, just updated my rig so I might have to start lanning again. Any of you Aussies LAN much?

the ScummVM emulator for nintendo DS is excellent. portable sam & max ftw.

Haha Microprose. Fuck knows how many hours of my life I've wasted playing Transport Tycoon.

Wicked. I had no idea there was a portable ScummVM. I'm downloading the symbian one now. I don't think my phone memory card is big enough to actually put any lucasarts games on but I'll have to rectify that soon :)

For people who don't know about the hugest fuckup in video game history.
Namely the $20mil deal for the atari2600 ET license which became millions of cartridges ... which then became landfill.

Tetris...lol seriousely it was the last game i played.

Some other ones are, hitman, need for speed most wanted and midnight club 3 (i think), the last one is my favourite.

SO, Caesar IV...

WOW WOW WOW

So many things to do, so many ancient towns to protect, so fucking confussing, yet so fucking awesome haha..

THis one rocks people

I've started saving for a wii.

I wasn't sure up until they announced everything if I was going to remain faithful to the big N.

But I'm suitably impressed.

but its 400 bucks for a gamecube with a spiffy controller
i can't hack that, i'll wait for a price drop and more crazy japanese games to be released (like i did with the DS)

While it's not as powerful as the other two it is a lot more powerful than the cube.

I'm not the kind of person who buys a lot of games anyway so as long as there is a few quality titles (and from IGN it looks like there will definitely be a few) I'm happy.

The wii isnt much more powerful than a PS2/Xbox1
I wouldnt class it as a next gen machine

Xbox360:
3 x Dualcore 3Ghz processors
512Mb ram (unified with graphics)
500Mhz video

PS3:
1 Dualcore 3.2Ghz + 7 x Cell processors
256Mb Ram + 256Mb Graphics
550Mhz video (hardware is double the shader instructions of the xbox though)

Wii:
730Mhz single core processor
80Mb ram (unified w graphics - i think?)
250Mhz video

(as a point of comparison)

Xbox1:
800Mhz single core
64Mb ram (unified w graphics)
233Mhz video

Gamecube:
500Mhz
25Mb ram + 2mb video
160Mhz video

"Next gen" doesn't have to relate to processing power. In terms of features it certainly doesn't fit with the current generation.

^ Dude, both the PS3 and the Xbox360 could emulate the wii in software without breaking sweat.

Dont get me wrong, the controller and the implications it has for games are very cool. But its not 'next generation hardware' by a long stretch

I coulda sworn that the xbox was a 733mhz cpu (celeron or similar iirc)
they change this stuff from under my nose.
bastards!

on a pc gaming front, I bought a new mouse (G5), which is a cunt with its sensitivity buttons right below the mousewheel.
Also brought my speakers and amp over from my room for more immersive gaming.

^ You're right its a 733 celery

I insert my subwoofer up my arse for a more immersive gaming
