The travel thread

Etihad are good. Abu Dhabi airport is pretty good, city is no Dubai though. I wouldn't bother making a big effort to have a few days there. Enough places to get pissed, but a bit expensive now as the Dirham has a USD peg.

I'd only bother staying there if I had to wait 4+ hours for my connecting flight, then I'd get a day visa or whatever it is and get a flight the next day at a better time once I've had a chance to sample the food and drink.

If a flight is leaving at 09:20 from Heathrow, I'm going to need to be there at least an hour before (never believe that 3 hours to check in bollocks). Now, unless I can somehow get a lift there, I'll be coaching it up. Do coaches run and arrive at Heathrow for the time I need?

when was the last time you caught an international flight from heathrow? dunno if you would be leaving from terminal 5, but it's fucking massive. you need to catch a subway train to some gates. don't be a tit and miss your flight, get there early, there's plenty to do and see there.

in other news, i'm off to amsterdam and thenceforth to germany for the next two nights (for work).

eDDe, check in closes 60 mins before flight. I flew Virgin from LHR last year and the bird next to me in the queue missed her flight due to those rules. Get there early, relax, drink beer at 8am. It's all good.

I've always left it to at least 60 mins before, will definitely be making that 90 minutes now. Thanks.

Now, is it against the rules to ask how to get valium from your doctor if its for legitimate reasons?

we will not help you obtain drugs for spurious reasons. if you have a legitimate need for valium, simply ask him for some. but remember everything that's been said about taking drugs into the UAE...

Ah yes, the bloody UAE.

I know opiate based stuff is a big nono machete to the willy, but valium with a script?

And what was the verdict going by people's experiences on here regarding valium?

Save me scanning through previous posts.
I know with co-codamol that it took some woman 3 months to prove she had a script from her doctor.

eDDe, just don't fuck about. I'd suggest leaving any presciption only drugs at home, unless it's asthma type stuff. It's just not woth the bother. And don't take any codeine either.

Valium is for pussies anyway. If you flight leaves at 9am, enjoy an nice brekkie, watch a film, start drinking at around 11.3am and then you'll be fine. :)

diazepam>drink>breakfast as far as making travelling more enjoyable goes

am i the only one who seems to get pissed the night before flying anywhere, then arriving at the airport with a big manky head only to try and take the edge off it by consuming more pints at the airport bar, while reading some shitty newspaper /fhm etc

For those who don't drink or eat breakfast, its a godsend :)

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. And Stella Artois can be a vital ingredient of breakfast.

There's nothing like beers for breakfast in the skanky bars at Gatwick!

Arrived in Sydney yesterday morning. Flights were all right as I konked myself out on tablets for both flights, but spent most of today lying in bed in a hotel feeling nauseous from jetlag. Tomorrow I;ll move to a YHA and try and find some fellow mischief makers. Funny at customs in Sydney even though I declared I had tramadol and benzo's on me they just waved me through while everyone else were getting their bags dissected.

I preferred Manly to the more usual backpacker hangouts when I was in Sydney, although we still had our large nights out in Kings
Cross. )

Yeah it seemed like the sort of place you could get drugs, loads of shady characters around.

eDDe I'll re-itterate the point about getting to Heathrow in plenty time. The journey between terminals can take ages, the place is huge you don't want to not have enough time. Three hours before is ideal. I like to be there early, checked in before the queues and then just relax until flight time.

The fucking needles all over the shop used to annoy and scare me. And the hookers by the Ferrari garage down the road who all had suspiciously large hands, adams apples and deep voices......used to be a good Brit-Pop night in a small club opposite though!
