The travel thread

Which Triploli, Spade? Libya or Lebannon? I'm not sure i'd fancy either that much at the moment, although Lebannon is very much on my places i'd like to visit at some point.

Lybia.

My dad told me Dubia was pretty boring, he went a few years back and said there wasn't much to do except go shopping.

Maybe 15 years ago but now you can do tonnes of stuff. I'm going to try and do the double header of snowboarding in the morning and surfing in the afternoon on this trip. I'm also going to try and get some photos on the creek from a Dhow. As it's Ramadan the streets should be a lot quieter so it might be good to get some different photos than usual.

I'd like to get out to the autodrome and do some kart racing, but i think it will be too busy at night due to Ramadan, and too hot during the day.

I shall also be eating lots of lovely food! I reckon it's the best place in the world for top quality mixed with incredible variety of food.

Why Lybia? I can't imagine there is much of interest there, plus can you have a beer?

I'm not sure why Lybia came up but can't see any reason not to go, would be completely different to anywhere else I've been.

No idea if you can have a beer or not.

^ You can't booze there. At all. It is therefore off my list for good.

Any one been to Armenia? It's one of 2 places I would still like to visit (the other is Buhtan). I seem to remember that the 'mad monk' Rasputin is buried on the shores of the big lake.
Totally unique character set, people seem nice (I've met a few Armenians) and loads of beutiful and as-yet unspoiled places to explore. Pretty safe (border with Iran as well as being a transit point for drugs).

Anyone... anyone ?

Well tell us all about ir Urbain, we like hearing about travels here and seeing pictures. Either start a new thread of post in the travel thread. :)

Kappadaftie, who would have thought you'ld be caught cruising the streets of San Fran, looking for hookers by a fellow BL'er. :D

Ahh, im done with my story telling for now. Until I roll and become reminiscent, of course.

All I can say is, it changed me as a person, which I had hoped it would. I tried Ecstasy for the first time, I found great excitement in being confronted with the sheer extravagance of Australia, I stayed in Hostels, spreading my seed around many different countries, living the lifestyle, and interacting with some of the Universe's most fabulous people.

So in short - I had the most mind blowing and enlightening trips of my life so far.

:)

I was in Oz for a short period of time (5 nights Cairns and 5 nights Sydney) earlier in the summer as part of an Oz / Asia trip. It was a cool place.

Where'd you go?

I've heard from BL that Ecstasy in Oz is very expensive and more often than not contains Meth instead of MDMA I hope you experienced the real deal.

How much did the trip cost you in total? I'd love to spend more time in Oz sometime.

What are those flights called where you have to deliver a parcel when you arrive in exchange for a cheap flight?

I went to Sydney first and towards the end of my trip I did some diving on the Great Barrier Reef in Queensland. I stayed in a place called Port Douglas for a month or so. Bout an hour north from Cairns. Had some fantastic weather there. When I flew back to Sydney it was fucking baltic.

Beans out there cost me 25-30 bucks a pop. Unfortunately I cant compare them to UK pills as I havent had the pleasure of dumping any yet. I was however, surprised to find out the massive hike in price. They were pretty decent to my preference though, I also heard that beans out there are stringer than UK ones but dunno if that was just a myth or not. I had some wonderful nights on 'em though. I only got really speedy ones this one time when I was staying out in the Suburbs. I ended up dumping 3 of the little bastards and me and my mates stayed up for a good 19 hours talking about the most magical and random shit ever. Im pretty sure we spent a good 2 hours telling each other how great our Mums were. ''Mums are heroes''... that one I wont forget in a hurry.. Hahaha.

A few of the most memorable pictures;

All in all, I probably did about 4 grand GBP in total. I also worked for a while in Sydney when I spent all my savings on booze in backpacker bars.

EDIT: Sorry to hijack your thread there Red.

I too did the Great Barrier Reef and took a trip up to Port Douglas then on into Cape Tribulation, the Daintree Rainforest etc. Lovely place North Queensland. :)

When at the Barrier Reef did you see 'nemo'? I thought that was very cool, also saw a stingray, blue star fish and other assorted stuff.

We're kind of hijacking RA thread, can someone move this to travel thread please? :)

I'm going to state here at my complete dislike for Skyscanner.net. It's a great idea in principal being able to compare all these flights but the reality of it is that it's a useless peice of shit. The price that it shows is never the ACTUAL 'live' price of the flights. I just found a return flight to Budapest for £56 but that price was from some distant time in the past, the REAL price is £280 on the dates I checked. A bit of a difference!! :X

It always does this rendering it absolutely useless.

Surely that's illegal now?

An act was passed to make sure the prices advertised were the final prices

Nah there are legit companies which have you act as a courier for them and drop off packages either to someone at the airport who works for them or to their offices. You get a cheap flight but usually are restricted to what luggage you can take, sometimes you won't get to take any and you have to go and come back on the dates they specify.

Skyscanner is just a comparison site and not all prices are 'live' they may have not been checked for a couple days which renders the whole thing essentially useless as air fares change several times a day in a lot of cases. We had a nightmare trying to book flight home from Europe, prices would fluctuate within the space of minutes from cheap to expensive. :!
