IRELAND SEPTEMBER 5th-20th

Hi! I will be touring around the coast of Ireland in a big circle - Dublin, Galway, Cork, and more.

I'm looking for people who live in Ireland - mostly near the coast or those major cities, but anywhere if you feel like traveling to meet up - or are visiting Ireland in September. I'd like company for travel, places to crash and rides to catch (I'll pay you for those last two, of course).

I tend to forget where I've made threads in BL so pls send me an email: mostlyinstrumental at gmail dot com or PM me with your email.

PLEASE email me or send me a PM... I probably won't find this when I check back here. Thanks!

just got home a couple of hours back. Best holiday/travel time I have had so far:)

Will post some stuff about it later. must sleep)

Right jude tell us all about and get some pics up you lazy cunt. :D

More travel tips:

Might have been posted already but travel light. Very light. Saw so many people with rucksacks bigger than them that they couldn't even lift without help, shit strapped to the top and bottom and all tied to the outside and some with more than one bag. Completely unnecessary no matter how long you are travelling. Don't take a sleeping bag / tent / camping gear unless you're going on a camping holiday 'just in case' more than likely you wont ever need them. All you really need is the clothes you are wearing, another set to change into and a small amount of toiletries.

Take clothes that double up as clothes for wearing during the day and are nice enough to wear out at night to bars / clubs as well.

Swim shorts with pockets that zip / button shut are ideal for wearing when travelling / walking around during the day as you won't sweat so much in them. Trust me nothing worse than sitting around on a train for 8hrs in a pool of sweat with your shorts sticking to your legs.

If going to Europe research whether a rail pass is worth while before you go don't just assume it is. If travelling in Western Europe it may be but when travelling the East and particularly down into the Balkans a rail pass will be an expensive waste of time as you can train it from country to country for as little as £5 and up to a maximum of £20. Also some places it's just not practical to travel by train as the train can take 12hrs where as the bus only takes 6hrs. Met so many people travelling the Balkans with rail passes only to find they weren't even accepted in some countries or that it was quicker to take the bus but they couldn't as they'd spent all that money on a pass.

Leave the guide book, phrase book and train time book at home. Some folk will have a phrase book for every country which is just ludicrous and takes up so much room. You can learn basic phrases online before leaving for your next destination, everything you can learn from a guide book can be found online and they only restrict you anyway why do what the Lonely Planet say anyway better to find out stuff for yourself. Train times can be found at the train station (no shit) so why bring a book that was probably out of date and wrong the minute it was printed. You have to go to the train station anyway to get on the train and they'll have more up to date information than any book.

Instead of getting pissed off in situations where everyone else is doing the same, i.e. nightmare 10hr train journeys with no air conditioning just sit back and laugh at the situation and everyone around you. Same when trains are delayed or the hostel is a dump or a taxi driver has just ripped you off take it on the chin, have a laugh about it and forget about it. No point in letting it taint your experience and ruin the trip.

When staying in hostels respect the space especially when staying in dorm rooms with strangers. Don't have your shit all over the floor and cluttering the place up. Be tidy, keep your stuff to your area of the room not sprawled everywhere like some inconsiderate cunts we had the displeasure of staying with in Bulgaria. If coming in late at night try and be as quiet as possible and not wake everyone up.

I was thinking about how cool it be to travel all over the UK by car / campervan. Loads to see and do and tons of variety and different places to see. There's tons I'd like to see.

It would cost you a fucking fortune with petrol prices as they are, and rip off Britain in full effect in most tourist places.

Yeah true but it'd be cool all the same.

I'd like to do the same in America and drive round the coast in Oz.

I'd actually be here forever listing the things I'd like to do travel wise. South America is another must visit.

My old mans talking about Israel or Marrakech at Xmas.

I don't think i'll ever visit Israel, I've met enough Israeli's in my life to give me a bad opinion.

I drove around a lot of the coast in Oz and it was great, apart from the backpacker trail on the east coast which was full of too many fucking english backpackers with their Lonely Planets thinking they were on some full on dangerous "The Beach" type mission. Fuckers.

(Please excuse my negativity, but some of my clients are being cunts) :)

Just spent a couple hours reading a cool travel blog by an English couple who backpacked for a year all the way from Leeds to Melbourne via mainland Europe, through into Turkey, up into Russia, trans-mongolian railway, into China, Korea, Japan, down into SE Asia (Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia - where they lived for a while, Thailand) before onwards to Oz. Sounds excellent, some lovely photos as well. http://www.travelpod.com/travel-blog/baileyandkerry/theworldbyland/tpod.html

I'll have to consider visiting Israel very carefully,
it would mean having to obtain a different passport, before visiting most Arab countries.

He was laughing at the 'new-age punks' that listen to Blink 182 etc, was quite funny :D

Off to Dubai this week. Should be interesting as Ramadan is about to start.

For work or pleasure?

Not a place I fancy, been told it's pretty boring with not much to do.

My dad's dying to go away at Christmas, he mentioned maybe going to Tripoli which I reckon would be quite cool but I don't see how I can afford it.

Work, with a bit of pleasure.

I'm not sure who told you that there isn't much to do, but they obviously haven't been. You can pretty much do anything you want (apart from ingest lots of drugs...but that shouldn't bother you Spadey:) )
