The travel thread

Don't even get me going on Septics and cruising :|.

I'm surprised at the lack of tourists though. I thought that the Channel Islands were where all the pensioners on the south coast went in the summer when Torquay gets a little too stimulating for them...
 
^ They used to, before the flights became too expensive, and now easyjet can get you to cuntsville in Spain for 2p.

We are apparently now attracting a higher class of visitor, so got some decent restuarants and boutique style hotels. Which suited Mr Kid and Mrs Kid very nicely, until Baby Kid came along. Now i just want drugs!!!!
 
OK don't worry folks (I could tell you were) I emptied my bag and re-packed in a slightly different fashion and everything went in, just. Still too full and heavy for my liking though so I'll be ditching some stuff. Not sure what yet though.

Keep the hoody. Handy for all sorts of mischief. Graffitti, muggings, burglary, frigthening old biddies, keeping hair dry.....
 
Thanks for the update, Spade. My heart has been in my mouth with anticipation for the last 3/4 of an hour :D.

Kid: I suspect that's the case with many British resorts these days. It really is cheaper to go abroad :\. I think that here (in a very historic Welsh town right on the border of Snowdonia) we mostly get kids being bussed in from Brum - presumably to show them what a tree looks like - and old people. Lots and lots of old people that wander the market aimlessly, have arthritic snails overtaking them and generally get in the way. Still, gawd love 'em :D.
 
Well I'm not bothered about keeping the hair dry but the rest of them are right up my street. :D
 
You can't really blame people for going abroad to spain etc when it's so cheap to fly and the weather is nice. I mean it's either that or Blackpool. :\

I got sent home from a school trip to your neck of the woods after getting caught with some soap bar.

Have to ever been to the Brit hotshpots in Spain? I drove through Benidorm a few years ago in Aug. Fuckin hell, it was worse than anything you've seen on 28 Days Later.
 
Travel thread, eh - does me having to go to Edinburgh tomorrow and then Leeds on Friday count 8) My carbon footprint's going to be the size of Jersey this week :\

You have a point about Draconian drug policing though. Plod find one gram of coke on some little scrote and put the doors through of everyone they even suspect knows how to spell the word drug. Around here that ain't so many.

EDIT: Apologies Mr Fishy - I have a feeling I may have played a part in a quite excessive detour around the original theme. I have a (bad?) habit of doing such things.

As a kid I've been to all the European holiday resorts, not just the ones in Spain but Greece, Portugal, Turkey, Cyprus etc and Tenerife a few years ago now with mates.

They're alright if you just want to sunbath, drink a lot and have everything be very British-like. And I'd rather go one of those places than Blackpool any day, which is a horrid and dishevelled place. I went there many times as a kid and I'd never go back as an adult.
