For me, relevant paperwork concerning my addiction and the cause for it, along with a sufficient supply of opiates/opioids. Other than that, GPS Satellite Phone and at least 2 good books.
On travel class, it depends on the conveyance. In my country of residence (Philippines) the most common from is an inter-island ferry. Ferries are sea-going and hold roughly 2000 passengers and often all kinds of freight and live stock. I usually book "Tourist Class" which gives you one bunk in a bunk bed on an open deck (with roof). Rarely I will book a shared cabiin if we have a large party, and they sleep 8 in 4 bunkbeds and soemtimes even have a telly with CCTV movies, etc.
In terms of air travel, always the cheapest berth. I often get bubmped up to business Class because I fly so much, etc. Domestically, when forced to fly, I take the wretched Cebu-Pacific, almost as bad as Soviet-era Aeroflot! Internationally I try and take either Cathay-Pacific or China Air. Both have great food, with China being the better in that regard. However, Cathay has much better diverson with in seat DVD players and great menus, even video games.
This year they are supposed to get in flight internet with a 7 US surcharge or thereabouts. Great for long hauls back into the US which take 17 hours more or less, actual time (as opposed to claendar time which usually tops out at 29 hours).
For drinkers, Cathay gives as much wine and champagne as you want in Economy.
