The Travel Thread - Second Destination

peru/west highlands, HMM

edit: oh wait, i assume out of the 3000 people who voted, most live in great britain and have never been to peru. d'oh.

eDDe have you never travelled before, rookie mistake being late for the flight. You are VERY lucky they let you board. :|

Also...

Was a bit surprised, but I shouldn't be by how quickly I was smoking hashish with and scamming Tuk-Tuk drivers here.

You're going to get into a whole world of trouble, tourists and drugs in Asia is probably a bad idea but fair enough your on holiday so you want to go wild but ripping of tuk tuk drivers? Not big nor clever, they make a pittance as it is and they work hard especially if it's the push bike ones and not the scooters. No need to rip the poor local off mate. :(

Lol, not what I meant or you misread that.

I said I'm surprised of the quality of hash considering tuk tuk drivers are just out there to rip you off, so most pot you see is stalks that tourists bought from them.

So this Italian guy at the guest house has some really good contact and it just took me by surprised, but I guess if you've been around a bit you know what to avoid.

My bad I misunderstood.

Where are you, Bangkok? Impressions?

Anyway what are you doing online? Away and explore. :p

Came across a company which provides all the structures, stages and tents for festivals across Europe. Basically travel round Europe from festy to festy spend a few days putting the structures / tents up, enjoy yourself whilst the festivals going on then move to the next destination and do it all over again. I reckon it sounds like good fun and despite the fact it's only a summer job it has to be better than working a shitty dead end admin job so I'm going to apply for a job with them. :)

spade that job sounds cool, just hope its not to good to be true.would fancy a summer like that if you could have some time off to get wrecked at least 1 day at each festival

result. :)

the good thing about that one is the massive ability to lie on your CV about past experience. a lot of it is casual so they have no way of verifying any of it. read up on things and become a bluffer of all those areas. :D

Don't let me forget to apply for this job people, I'd forgotten all about it till I came back to this thread. :D

Damn memory! :\

I really need to see if I can find some people who have done the job before and get an idea from them what it's like. Definitely want some background info on the whole thing.

You sure he's done that? I remember him doing a bit of stewarding at Reading Festival or something.

Don't worry I'm great at lies telling and blagging to get jobs, my CV is wonderful. ;)

Doing just that landed me my current job. :D

Motorbike taxis :D

Meesta you buy soot?

Khao San road is pretty rubbish after the first night.
Other than that, just bought a camera (more expensive than in England, even with bargining) and have some wicked pictures of the Grand Palace, although I'm sure you've seen them thousands of times from other people.

Chiang Mai tomorrow.

You seen any weird and wonderful sights yet? I'm sure you couldn't fail to in Thailand like. Fascinating place. :D

Filthy as fuck though eh? :\

Check out my blog.

All the food, wherever I go, has the same after taste or odd smell. Quite annoying really.

I sound like a moany westener here lol (on bluelight that is)

Jamshyd spends a lot of time in Thailand, I believe. He's mentioned before that of all the countries in that part of world he's been Thailand is rather grubby with horrid (street) food. I presume there are good places to eat too. Can't remember what the odd taste comes from but if memory serves it's a local dried shrimp paste or similar that goes in virtually everything.

The street food is not always horrid, I had some lovely stuff. :) Bangkok is VERY grubby, dirty and smelly though, rats and cockroaches everywhere.

You've a 15hr train journey with no air conditioning planned? You must be mental, fuck that for a game of soldiers. Can you not do shorter journeys to places in between / on route to break up the trip?

Grand Palace is indeed cool. Did you visit Wat Pho and see the 'Reclining Buddha'? I thought that was the coolest of them all.
