The Travel Thread - Second Destination

I cant wait till Thailand and Austrailia next year! Kinda wish i could have afforded that this year but a lads holiday to dam will be some banter even if its just a few days... Im thinking Ibiza in September would have been better for that sort of holiday but we'll see :\
 
I'm going to Oz in September! :D

Possibly via KL as the flights are quite cheap, maybe spend a week there.
 
Yeah Aus will be amazing man! Want to do everything, maybe stay there for a year or something =D

Im planning going via Thailand, dying too see Phuket and all those perfect wee islands!

Havent really looked at K L, how long you staying for? Is there much happening there? Thailand seems like theres alot more banter there to be had!

Its my ideal holiday =D<3 really want too see that part of the world more than anywhere!!!
 
Oz is amazing, loved it when there last year but definitely can't wait to be there a bit longer, I'm getting the 12 month working holiday visa, only reason I'd be going to KL is AirAsia do cheap flights from LDN to KL then even cheaper flights from KL to Oz.

Thailand is fun but again didn't spend long enough there, Phuket is OK, full of drunken tourists and hookers though.

KL is alright but it doesn't warrant anymore than about 3 or 4 days at the most.

The best thing about that place is the choice of food. Great Indian and pretty much anything else that you can get your dirty little mittens on. The food made me feel better after coming down and generally feeling like shit and being depressed, but honestly the humidity was so bad that I couldn't wait to get on the bus and go to Penang.

Just for the record you can sleep in the airport, but there's not that much to do there.

I clarified several times that it was the folk in tourist / service jobs.

I wasn't talking about Ireland or Irish people actually.
 
Getting PURE DEAD WELL EXCITED about going to Oz now. Looking into loads of cool places I can visit whilst there and find some really unusual and interesting places I'd like to go. A place called Orange which has it's own cider brewer, SOLD! A remote town called Broken Hill and a placed called Nimbin aka 'Alternative Capital of Australia'. The town of Nimbin is a 'co-operative' type place where everyone owns their own land which they live from, grow their own food, make their own clothes etc, all solar and wind powered, they even have their own currency. It sounds cool as fuck.

Australia is fucking ace! I can't fuckin wait! Wooooohoooo, must be about 15 weeks until I go and got 2 of those off work! Ye dancer!!
 
You're going to get offered weed the second you get to Nimbin :)

I got some great stuff when I went there. My girlfriend greened out in a dodgy empty children's playground :| :)

edit - may as well go to byron bay while you're there.

Nimbin aint as nice as it sounds. Go there to score, but stay somewhere else.
 
^ Agreed. Although it fucking rained virtually all the time i was in Byron, and it was flat too. :(
 
There is absolutely nothing in Tel Aviv that you can't find elsewhere... except war, of course...

If you think you need to go to Tel Aviv (or Elat), you're falling for Israeli marketing.

Like I said, the only places worth visiting in Israel/Palestine are currently fucked by war. That is as of my last visit in 2006 and, to my knowledge, things got worse since then...

In other news, seems that it's confirmed I'll be going to Eastern Europe this August!! So excited!!

I'll be based in Budva, Montenegro. I plan on touring the surrounding countries and attempting to find a job in Sarajevo (which is a prospect for me for various reasons). Wish me luck!

(also, please do give any suggestions you may have :)).
 
Nimbin is a beautiful place in it's own little way, but the town itself is a bit of a shithole... a bit like walking into a set of deliverance.

Having said that though you should probably go there. The rest of the region is well worth visiting.

I'm sure the surrounding area is beautiful, the bus trip on the way there was really nice, was just a bit surprised when we got there and it was basically one road with a load of people sitting around looking dodgy :D

Had some nice laid back cafes you could sit out back and smoke in, but I can't say I felt really safe. I was basically there just to pick up and then the tour bus took everyone back to Byron, so didn't get to see loads :\ :)
 
I'm packing my nine next time i go to Nimbin. I know someone who got had a bloody needle shoved in his face by someone attempting to relieve him of his cash a few years back.
 
The possibility of getting stabbed when I was led off the main road to pick up was in the back of my mind, I didn't want my girlfriend going in with me, but they turned out to be alright and got what I assume is their fine locally grown produce which lasted us ages. Even offered me a bong hit then and there :D

I bet the bong was loaded with some sedative, and if you'd accepted you'd have woken up 2 hours later minus your wallet, your anal virginity and a kidney. ;)
