The Travel Thread - I am lovely and respectful to all in my path PLUR <3 xxxxx

All advice warmly received. This will be my 1st time doing the travelling type thing as opposed to just going on a holiday. Left it late at 37 to get started but cannae wait. Away to the Dam for a week next month. TBH, only got a few things planned for the DAM. Thailand has taken all my attention away!
 
Yeah, don't bother planning much for Dam. Though I can heartily recommend the Alp Hotel with its jacuzzi baths.

Great photos :) - I've had some great times in Thailand. BKK was a flying visit which was mainly hiking / photos so really didn't have time to take it in. Samui has always been good fun but Phuket - was a nightmare that sort of put me off going back. Once you were away from the main strip Patong the surrounding areas and people were really nice but Patong was filthy.
 
off to the Dam tomorrow for a week. Ist time ever. Expecting to score pills and expecting to try my hardest not to get ripped off attempting to buy coke......im pretty sure i will.

Planning on a few bars, coffee shops (birds never been stoned before!), im wanting to get fired into the truffles if there is a sunny day and go for wander about. -Shades on for extra protection! Bit of cycling and few touristy things..museums boat trip, heinekin tour etc etc.

Any last minute tips from any EADDers or any dutch folk kicking about.

Fuck yeah! Actually,,haven't been for years but last time I went this was a great new discovery, quite away from the centre, and was brilliantly fitted out with a lovely quiet ambience. Hope it hasn't got too well known and overcrowded? Was a fine place to smoke dope.
 
Nah, was lovely and quiet when we visited, but that was February so I guess not peak season. Music was pretty good and varied too.

Also Easy Times is a nice sophisticated girlfriend-friendly coffeeshop, swedge.
 
Fucks sake Swamp. Easy Times? Rasta/reggae cafe, just off a side street off a bridge heading towards Leidseplein?

Did I give you a map of my Dam coffee shops route or something?
 
Heheh, possibly! Do you like 1e Hulp as well?

Though Easy Times is around that area, but isn't rasta/reggae - is quite a classy cafe-bar stylee place. Not bought owt from there but is a nice atmosphere.
 
In which case I reckon it's been taken over and they've kept the name. It used to be the only (therefore first I guess) place that charged an entrance fee (nominal, but still a fee).Which kinda stopped us going there eventually but it played black music on big fuck off sound systems, was great.

1e Hulp, you've got me beat there, not on my radar.

Easy Times was kinda halfway between dampkring and Leidseplein but on the other side of the road to die dampkring. Other side of canal bridge? I know what I mean. Was a long thin cafe when I knew it, pretty much black only, certainly heavy reggae only.

I'll shut up now.
 
Nope, is a different one then! I generally find that sort of place a bit intimidating and the guys can get pretty creepy if you're on your own. (Creepy in a very stoned way, mind.. ;) )

And 1e Hulp is the connoisseur's choice these days for buying. Had some amazing Super Silver Sour Diesel Haze there. Was a bit difficult to order though. =D
 
Well I googled it. Prinsengracht. Definitely that one. I refer you to my first answer, changed hands, and subsequently clientele, but kept the name. I reckon.
 
Haha, nope, thats a refit. Basic wooden tables before. Nothing as comfy looking as that. OK, detective stuff over, definitely same place, different times.
 
Hee, yeah, it is a bit girly. And I've been quietly honing my coffeeshop map over the past few years, yep. :)
 
Just back from the Dam.....wow what a city and what a country The Netherlands is. Makes the UK look like a complete fucking shambles. Arrived on Saturday and walked for ages between bars and took in the red light district, went for a Thai meal and finished the night on a vapourisor in a wee coffeeshop called dolphin (i think).

Sunday was possibly one of the best days I ve had in a long time. Bought some truffles and walked around the vondel park for hours, pretty nice trip with the girlfriend. After a quick post trip freshen up we went around a few more bars and ended up speaking to a few locals. we got sorted out for coke. It was not the best coke I ve ever had but it was waay better than the shite we get over here. It was eyeballed, but they knew we were getting extra. Id say it was nearer 3 - 3.5g for £120euro. - I did not feel ripped off, I was just delighted to have some decent ching for the next few days.

The next few days was filled with walking around Amsterdam, bar to bar to museum, to boat trip....all fueled with half pints of Jupiler and coke.

The last 3 days were spent in a hostel on the North Sea coast. Really chilled vibe, loads of smoking, drinking and relaxing with a bit of cycling thrown in for good measure.

Cannot wait to go back to Holland.
