^ A decent minimum wage, or better a citizens income that everyone can live on (i guess we have to become citizens and not subjects first). To attract us to work for them employers would have to not fuck us over as much as they can/do through current employment regulations - this would put the power balance the right way round (majority rules and all that - we are many, they are few). Whatever the current bosses say this could solve overall unemployment problems - there's not enough jobs to go round supposedly - if we could support ourselves with the money from two days work, we can have full employment (with a bit of redistribution from the elite - they can take it (did you see that graph)) - this is the inevitable coming true of keynes' predictions (it's this or worldwide unrest - the elite have gambled on the latter, hence the interrnational beefing up of police forces and repression of civil rights).
Also, an important thing in that strauss-khan link was the report from the imf saying they've now decided that austerity was a mistake (yeah right) - they said they should have let the economies get growing through creating demand (ie spending) before starting the cuts. Funny how i haven't heard the media or the government apologise and say they were going to ditch the austerity programs (but they are servants of the main beneficiaries, the banking/corporate elite).
