Positive The Tapering Support Thread v 2.0

Been awhile, Nice new layout. Good to be back! Still taking my Norcos. I have been two weeks clean and the old BS of just One??
I worry about the age of my DR 68 and the fact that no one stays Forever??
I am at 20mgs of Hydrocodone a day (5mgs 4xs/day, some days 5mgs more and some 5mgs Less)
I just started with some benzos , I know be careful, thank you all!

I have 300mg gabipentins as well, and not sure how to take them during taper?

The Gabapentin will serve you well. If you look through my post history, the last thread I created (entitled 'ENDLESSNAMELESS' Recovery Thread (Heroin, Smoked).') was in regards to my own taper and in the very beginning I was using gabapentin to great success in mitigating the acute withdrawals.

How many 300mg GP do you have by the way? I have quite a bit of experience using Gabapentin and Pregabalin/Lyrica so hopefully I can help you.

Thank you. I have 400 - 300mg gabipentin , and an available script
 
Oh wow, you'll be fine. I took 400mgs a day until the acute symptoms bagan to cease, then I gradually dropped off them (which will be documented in that thread. In my experience, they cut the physical withdraws by at least 75%.

The only other medication I would advise would be some benzos as the anxiety is going to drive you up the walls, back down and alas up the walls again and again until you either go insane or you relapse - in my own experience. Just a light benzo, preferably a long acting one like Diazepam. In terms of dose, it depends on how prone you are to anxiety when you reach 0mgs with the Hydrocodone. For me it was 20mgs a day. When I couldnt get those I'd use Trannax @2-3mgs during the day, then perhaps 1-2mgs at night depending on tolerance and how far along I was at 0mgs.

You got this buddy. Just stay persistant, you will have some rough days but that only means your system is adapting without them and repairing itself.
No pain = No gain in this game, and I mean that literally.

But here we go again Monday AM and will take less today than tomorrow ( So is the plan??)
my bowels are the first to start, and here we are, I will take some Imodium and that does help. I have a few Ativian .5 mgs . I do not have any understanding of benzoes except they sound like a BAD DOC??
I have gabipentian 300mgs , is that too high a dose?

Just checking in. Still on my norco. still not running out.
I went on a trip to celebrate my wife's 60 birthday, and help her parent out with the 2 hurricanes that hit them in Fla. travel is hard work now??
so back to work on getting off these?

Gabapentin never did anything for me. Lyrica is closely related and it was great for sleep. Benzos like Ativan are good too, but it took 2mg dose to knock me out, sometimes 4mg.

Not maybe. Get past the first week of 100% clear off the drugs and throw it all down the toilet!! Temptation is a nightmare, especially when it’s 2am and you’re the only one awake. A little Norco starts sounding soooooo easy.

but I have guilt about using it??
It is prescribed by my PCP, and he feels I am fine.
Cancer is a bitch, if it does not kill you, the treatments are the gift that just keep giving!!

After trying to get off Norco unsuccessfully my Dr didn't refill my prescription and I never called to question it. Turns out it was a mistake! He asked why I wasn't taking it anymore at my next appointment. But I just got tired of feeling like crap all the time because I was running out early every month.

I do feel better after being off them for a couple years even though I still have pain. But now I'm trying to slowly taper benzos. I'm ready to be done with all this but it's going to be awhile unfortunately.

I have not been strong enough to tell my dr to stop.
That is still a bridge too far at the moment?? So I stay at a low level of withdrawal. I will only take a small amount each day 20-30mgs, I have a great deal going on in life that i must show up for (Family), doing it in withdrawal is too hard.
 
Hi Guys,

Hope everyone is doing alright.
I have been suffering a lot with this chronic neck and back pain.
It has been absolute hell since my doctor retired and I got put on suboxone.
It sucks for pain.
I’m so tired of the pain friends.

My mom passed away a few months ago also.
I helped her through all four stages of Liver Failure and Disease.
She never drank or smoked or anything. Ever.
It was just genetics and old age.

I’m extremely scared without her.
It has been so much anxiety.
I am really scared.

Bless your soul. I am so worried too I can just die from fright.

We don't deserve any of this. The hurt.

I can't do this for much longer. I can't and can't tell you.

So sorry 😢....
I almost lost my mom too this year, very scary.
She also has chronic pain due to a spine issue.

I really hope things get slightly better for you, a little bit every day.
I hope you have others to lean on.
