I made one more connection, though it may be totally off the mark:
NSFW:
Notice when those guys beat up the guy on the bicycle, that Anthony looks at the bicycle in the street, watching it get run over. Though it took a while for it to click, I realize that it may have reminded AJ of a scene from last season, when he gave away his bike to those punks instead of getting in a fight--in other words, engaged in the very compromise he was rejecting in beating up people with those punks.

*prediction*

I have always had this feeling that Tony's psychiatrist Dr. Melphi is somehow connected to the FEDS. I dunno, I always got the feeling like she was trying to end their relationship so she could go to the FEDS and give them info. If you think about it, she could wear a wire or record their sessions and Tony could never really search her or the office when they talk.

Its just a lil hunch I have and I am waiting to see if it pans out.

I think Melfi will play a part in the end of Tony, but she can't testify to the Feds about what her and Tony talk about. Doctor - patient privileges.

Also Tony is pretty careful about what he says in front of her. its been enough to give her an idea of what goes on, but he never specifies anything or links himself to anything in particular.

I was thinking its a possibility that Tony will totally lose it and kill Melfi, or maybe she will be killed accidentally somehow and Tony will no longer have his therapist..

I think your connection is really good - I didn't catch that and I haven't seen that anywhere else. AJ seems to just be stumbling into these violent situations. He looks really confused - he constantly is expected to take part because he is "Tony Soprano's Kid" but you can tell he doesn't want to do it. But he seems to end up going though with it.

While this is going to be the end for Tony - I think its going to be the beginning for AJ...

I didn't hide this because I am not giving anything away.

I don't think Tony ever divulged enough for her to offer anything worthwhile to the feds. Also, I'm sure there's a doctor patient confidentiality clause between a psychiatrist and their patients. Of course that can get broken if anything regarding a murder is ever mentioned, but Tony's never come close to doing that.

Tony has never gotten specific with Dr Melphi about the things he has done, but he has expressed his feelings about certain people and certain situations, which the FEDS can stack up on a RICO case. We already know the FEDS are trying to build a RICO case against Tony.

Also, I was thinking what if she wasnt his psychatrist anymore? Like if she told him that she didnt want to see him as a patient anymore. How does the doctor patient confidentialiy clause hold up in court then? She wouldnt be his doctor and he wouldnt be her patient anymore.

When he was in the bathroom - he was looking at the circular white light and smiling. It looked like a moon?

I think that particular moment was a flashback to the light sequence when he was in a coma in season v6.0. But yeah now you mention it the was definitely a circle theme going on there.

I liked it it when the sun winked at him, that was way cool.

generally speaking* doctor patient confidentiality continues even after the patient stops seeing the doctor.

* the scope of doctor-patient confidentiality (as well as the existence of a doctor patient legal privilege) varies between states. there are no federal law governing doctor patient confidentiality.

Dr Melfi has not really aged well.. :/
As for the last ep, I wasn't that shocked by the death of Christopher.. he was definitely one of my favorite characters but I knew it was coming, just wasn't sure how.

I thought it was more of a mercy killing at first as well but Tony definitely viewed him as a weakness and rightfully so.. I kept hoping though that during certain moments when they looked at one another without the other seeing that those looks were more poignant, perhaps actual love (like the father son relationship that's purported) and not resent which was actually played out more so in the episode.

i think more than anything i would like to see carmela exact some revenge on tony.. she didn't want to put up with him cheating on her anymore and he's had no problem doing it lately. she's sold her soul in her own ways but at least she's still loyal to him. grr@tony. meadow has been pretty useless so far this season as well which is a disappointment
aj is kind of annoying.. and that scene with the ignorant kids beating up the Somalian boy and calling him a terrorist? wtf? good group to align yourself with 8( him crying with the shrink was pretty pathetic as well. maybe he's trying to feel like a badass by kicking the shit out of people and burning off their toes to make up for his lost fiancee but still.. this is not the end i wanted to see for aj. it's just pathetic without just cause, imo.

True that. :(

I don't think Carmella is going to do anything about Tony...if anything, the last season or two have, IMO, shown her increasingly either willing to make excuses for his behavior, or to ignore it altogether. Remember the last season (or was it the one before?) when he effectively blackmailed her into not leaving him? That seemed to have worked all too well.

haven't posted her for a while.
i was really shocked about Christopher's death, i really didn't see it coming.
as for Carmella, i also feel that she isn't going to do anything about Tony, they've been through a lot and i think Tony realizes that.

and about Tony tripping on peyote, that was crazy as hell. i feel that Tony is mentally breaking down about it though he says he doesn't feel grief about the situation...

aj needs to die, plain and simple. he's a horrible actor imo

in general a therapist can't go to the five-oh unless they have reason to believe a crime will be committed in the future. in other words, if they can prevent a crime it is exempted from confidentiality, but discussing the details of past crimes is still covered. at least thats how i learned in new york.

sorry ali, i just don't see the point in reading a thread about sopranos unless you either wanted to read the spoilers or had already seen it and thus wanted to discuss it.

Was anyone else cheering for AJ to succeed with his little dive? I hope Coco(whatever his name is) has a good dental plan. =D
