The thing with Bobby and the chest hairs, the sharing of needles, the Russian guy, Furio (which I was just thinking about this morning, about him coming back), Tony's gambling problem - These are all things that probably have been set up to keep people guessing. otherwise it would be obvious what is going to make things crash down. That is my theory anyway.
i agree. i kind of like it when shows leave threads hanging and don't wrap up loose ends neatly and spoon-feed the audience neat closure because then it's more like, well, real life. it leaves something to the imagination.

alasdair

good call stereobot. that shakesperian-type ending would actually be a pretty satisfying way to end the show for me.

So it's on in about, what, twenty minutes?

Booyah, I'm glad I called in sick to work today. Should be a torrent available in no time.

Holy shit. I did not see that coming. I knew Tony was a brutal asshole, but wow... I felt my heart plunge after the car accident. 8o

And the end in Las Vegas with the Mescaline made me chuckle.

"That works on the same principles as our solar system" :D

I didn't see that coming either. I even thought it was all a dream sequence when he woke up... But unfortunately it wasn't.

With all things considered though, it was the right thing to do.
Christopher was eventually going to turn on him, one way or another. At least he went out with only 3 episodes left.

Oh, and I liked how they mentioned the Departed cd. Any significance there? (God I hope not. That would be a horrible ending.)

lol, i didnt quite make out what he said at the roulette table, "That works on the same principles as the universe" rofl thats hilarious.

i dont think anyone could've seen what tony did coming. it was a surreal scene to me, cause who would've thought, thats how the end would come to that character, n' out of nowhere, quick BOOM he's gone. but with tony contemplating killing paulie a few weeks back cause of his loud mouth it seems T isnt takin shit from anyone who puts his life in jeopardy.

something random i noticed is so for this season at least one person has died in every episode.

that was pretty intense with Chris. I think that he mostly did what he did out of mercy, although it is obvious that he knew Christopher would be a risk in the hospital. I am suprised how quickly and out of nowhere this all happened. You would think they would have come up with more of a dramatic ending for Chris. I really thought Tony would have been more emotional.

About the Departed CD - Last week's episode Tony was singing "Comfortably Numb" coming down the staircase in the morning, singing horribly off key. that is what they were listening to in the car before the crash.

AJ is being an emotional rollercoaster. I wonder what is going to happen with him, but I feel that he is going to die one way or another..

While in Vegas at the Roulette table tony laughed and said "He's Dead" while winning and laughing. I don't know what he meant, like maybe Chris was the reason he was losing or something, or he was bad luck..

That girl Tony was with in Vegas was really hot... holy shit..

Oh - is it me, or is Tony getting more colder as the episodes go on? He just has no problem hurting people, physically or emotionally, even his wife.
he didn't give a shit about Chris,
and he wanted to kill Paulie. I don't think it matters to him anymore who lives or dies aside from his kids. This seems to be progressing, although maybe its not intentional that the show is conveying that. I think tony is very empty inside.

That's great with the mesc, David Chase was a big acid head back in the day. You can always see the hallucinogens coming through in his work, great to see it so blatant.

don't you have to take like 20 peyote buttons to trip? tony took 2, I thought you had to boil that shit in water or something, not just eat it.

i agree with ya on that, i know one of the side effects from anti-depressants are an increase in suicidal thoughts, honestly i wouldn't be surprised if aj takes his own life.

definetly. being a mob boss, i guess that would even be a good trait for his character. im no expert but from what i did read about real life mafioso they would have no problem killing one of their own if they betrayed or thought to have posed a risk to the family.

Looked like mesc extract pressed into a pill-shapel to me, the doses were about the right size

HOLY CRAP!!

Obviously that wasn't expected here either.
I'm going to miss Christopher.
I was really really surprised by Tony's actions and attitude this week. Usually his demeanor is a mixed bag with both sides of the spectrum evident. Here, he was just the cold, dark, unrelenting mob boss. I can't wait to see what pans out next week... and if anything comes from his whole new "perspective" he gained from his trip (doubtful, of course). :)

Chris was a burden on Tony. Tony, looking at that car seat, used the fact that Chris would eventually probably do something to hurt his child while being unresponsible, however ultimately Tony killed Chris for selfish reasons. I don't think that he trusted Chris would be able to avoid legal issues if he went to the hospital, which would put the family at risk.

Through out the rest of the episode Tony was actually happy to be rid of Chris the burden.
Tony is definately growing colder every episode. the man is on a decent into a living hell. David Chase expresses that Tony is a horrible human being. I think Tony is going to alienate all his friends and he will have no back up when Phil comes in for the kill.

I think after that episode we might as well not bother speculating how things will happen as they just happen so randomly.

NSFW:
I think several things factored into Chris's murder:
1.) Tony was honestly afraid that one day Chris would accidentally kill his daughter or someone else--or hell, maybe even him, on another drive.
2.) He was sick and tired of trying and failing to get Chris off drugs.
3.) He was worried that Chris would turn on him because of Adrianna, especially after Carmella pointed out the similarities between "Cleaver"'s plot and reality.

Still, it was a right fucked thing to do; I've never been that enthralled with Tony as a character on the show, but even my folks (who like him) were left feeling cold.

Oh, and the quote is "It works on the same principle as the Solar System." ;)

Tony and Chris' relationship has been declining since the first episode. Tony mentioned to Bobby that a relationship with someone close to him, obviously Chris, has let him down and didn't work out. Even so, I didn't expect him to off Chris.
But, I guess the opportunity was just too good. I'm guessing that Paulie is going to be next.

a reoccurring theme in last week's episodes-

NSFW:
There were reoccuring themes after Tony took the peyote - Circles.

When he was in the bathroom - he was looking at the circular white light and smiling. It looked like a moon?

In the casino - he was looking at that devil face thing - it was a circle. The Roulette table and his quote of it working on the same principles of the universe - it was a circle.

Even at the end - the sun - was a circle.

So does this mean things will come around "full circle"? the roulette table - the same principles of the universe - Everything that happens is just random and by chance?

Maybe Tony "gets" the full circle concept - but I don't know how that would really apply to the story line.. it doesn't seem that he is really going to take responsibility for anything he has done..

I just couldn't help notice all the circles..
