Ethnobotanicals The Small & Handy Sinicuichi (Heimia Salicifolia) Thread

Yeah DiPT is a research chemical for sure, however in my experience with it, for me, it seems extremely benign. And it's also a wonderful entheogen, if perhaps a very different sort of entheogen than anything else I've ever tried. Sinicuichi wasn't entheogenic at all for me.

People make the jump I suppose in the same way that people make any jump. You read a bunch of peoples' experiences and decide that it sounds worth trying. Most of the RC psychedelics I've tried have been worth trying, some I never tried again, but a few have become some of my favorites. LSD was a "research chemical" at some point too. And plenty of plants can be very dangerous, even lethal. I had a worse experience on sinicuichi than I have on any single RC I have tried, and I've tried a LOT of them. It's a gradual process. I respect if someone is unwilling to go there, for sure, but for me, I make informed decisions and I am someone who is very curious and enthusiastic about psychedelics. There are definitely some I don't wish to ever mess with (for example, the NBOMes). But when it comes to Shulgin's creations, I am mostly willing to experiment.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if some day I try some RCs but I also won't be surprised if I never do.

I want to, it's just a matter of being unsure about their safety.

There are some that by now have a pretty long history of safe human use, namely 2C-B and DOM (though DOM has been pretty rare, even so it was used in the 60s and despite freakouts from ridiculously high doses, I haven't heard of any problems). By extension, I feel pretty good about the other DOXs and the other 2C-Xs (some of them range into less charted territory like the 2C-T-Xs though). Also AMT has been used for quite a while... AMT went through clinical trials as an antidepressant and was prescribed, and only discontinued because people would feel too weird after taking it. :D And the extreme similarity in action and effects of the 4-HO-trypts to a very well-known and studied psychedelic, 4-HO-DMT, leads me to feel quite confident in their safety.

I'm pretty comfortable with 2c-b. I think that compound is beyond "research chemical" at this point, similar to how I wouldn't call LSD or MDMA an RC. Plenty of research has been done. But I also see people who post here enthusiastically railing completely novel stimulants with no history of use and I cringe.

So I made the tea in the traditional way and drank it about an hour ago. It tasted like bitter tea oversteeped in swamp water. There is a minor buzz and I feel slightly altered, but the predominant effects are nausea and full body aches which seem to be increasing over time. Walking up stairs is a misery. It reminds me a lot of LSA, actually. I wonder if it's vasoconstriction. Even my throat muscles and tongue ache. I feel awful.

Edit: seriously guys fuck this shit, do not do this. It is terrible. Have mercy on yourselves and stay away from this fucking devil juice.

Yeah man, the body aches are horrific aren't they? Sorry you're experiencing them, they scared me bad because they were so horrible, I thought something was seriously wrong. But they'll pass, don't worry.

Everything hurts. Muscles I didn't even know I had. My fucking eyelids hurt. MY EYELIDS.

I don't think you need it, you'll just have to ride out the pain. I remember my eyelids and eyeballs hurting too. And my lungs hurt, and my chest when I took every single breath. Just... terrible. I certainly never touched it again, as I'm sure you will be happy to follow. If I recall, 24 hours later I was just a bit sore, and the day after that I felt fine, though my ears were shifted down a few pitches still (not sure if you got pitch shifting too).

I wonder what it is about this stuff that causes all the aches?

I also wonder where it's reputation as such a powerful mind altering substance comes from?

The way it has been described in various places online makes it seem to be interesting but the reports of doing it seem to just be terrible.

I didn't get pitch shifting. I mostly just got pain. My skin hurts and every muscle in my body hurts. Interestingly I smoked some hash and it had absolutely no effect. This plant is definitely a mystery in many ways but I personally won't be touching it again.

I wonder if using fresh material rather than dried reduces these side effects?

Yeah I found the same thing, absolutely no effect from cannabis whatsoever during the duration.

It's certainly possible that drying it out changes some of the chemicals from how they would be fresh - take, for example, dried khat leaves, which lose much of their active alkaloids over fresh. I, however, will not be experimenting with that. Even if I could get fresh leaves.

When were you able to get high again? This is so weird, I've never heard of cannabis being blocked by anything. I still can't get high.

Yeah for sure, I think maybe for 2 days I couldn't get high, I can't remember for sure, but it was during college that I tried sinicuichi and I got high all the time all through college (and after). I get super high whenever I smoke now, though it's because I don't do it so often anymore. It worried me at the time but in no time I could get high just fine again. :)

Is there a "big and dandy Sinnasuichi thread" or does anyone here have experience with using it? what was it like for you? did it hold any value of use? was it "enlightening"? did you experience any entactogenesis or empathy or introspection? what kind of visuals did you get from it? side effects/bodyload?

i'd like to learn more because i'm considering growing some and using it.

i dont really think its a viable entactogen

why dont you grow salvia or mushrooms

I've been fascinated by this stuff for years and from what I've read I DO believe that has had psychedelic effects on people as it was a very important entheogen for the Aztects.

However, even though I've always wanted to try it, after reading Xorkoth's trip report I don't think I want to risk those bad side effects.

On Erowid there are some positive reports though of people have the auditory effects and other pleasant effects it has been purported to have.

It would be interesting to know what the active component is and isolating that. Wikipedia is being confusing:

-Vertine is named as the primary psychoactive in Sinicuichi, but following the link from vertine to (redirect) Cryogenine, we are told that this is not psychoactive at least up to doses of 310mg.

Its meant to be musculotropic (there's my new word for the day) which apparently means something stimulating to muscles, so I wonder if thats why Xorkoth felt the pain he did.

maybe; also totally unrelated i heard a trip report of a person who tripped on HBWR and his feelings of pain turned into emotion and he said it was like super healingful and beautiful and introspective and stuffs.

but i use HBWR as it's a viable entheogen. i might grow mushrooms and extract DMT. i have trouble getting salvia though; it's not legal in my state

is there a way to grow it or obtain it for personal use?

Don't think you're gonna get entactogenic, empathetic or introspective effects from Sincuichi. It's not a traditional psychedelic. It acts on your cholinergic system, more like DPH or Datura, but in an atypical way.
