I dont think they should pull the plug on the series. Just because a lot of avid fans dont get the same thrill out of it, doesnt mean other people dont. If any of those people become fans, and look up to old episodes in awe then its all been worthwhile.

I agree with you. I see my boyfriend's little brother watching the new Simpsons episodes, and the Movie, and he absolutely adores it. As if he cares how much better the Simpsons used to be :D

^when we worked together, mcwigga and i use to communicate only in simpsons and futurama quotes.

judge: ... then i sentance you to a lifetime of horror on monster island
lisa: gasp
judge: don't worry, it's just a name
*along with another prisoner, lisa runs frantically from monsters*
lisa: but they said it was just a name!
prisoner: when they caled it monster island they didn't know it was actually a peninsula

My boyfriend and I still do :)

If we ever go for a few days without seeing a Simpsons episode, and we watch one (or 2, or 3, as the case may be), it's like reuniting with an old family member <3

Come family, sit in the snow and let us all bask in TV's warm glowing warming glow...

Hmmmm so the Simpsons declined in quality at about the same time as Futurama was airing?

Just kidding, both great shows :D I agree Simpsons was better in the '95-'00 era but that could just be me getting old and not appreciating this new-aged-fandangled-humour.

This one is for the Australians in here. :) <3

I can see why it struck some nerves but it's one my favorite episodes.

"These bloody things are everywhere. They're in the lift, in the lorry, in the bond wizard, and all over the malonga gilderchuck."

:D

that episode really had our number. it's fantastic. lol hard @ "kick in the bum"

but i never really got the "don't tread on me" bit. please explain.

these pre-date stainless steel so you can't get them wet.

haha, def. one of the top ten episodes. hard to say cause there are so many great ones though. ive probably seen the simpsons more than any other show/movie ever.... no definetaly.

i am getting pretty sick of the new seasons though, still fine to watch but nothing like it used to be. i did like the movie a lot though.

If they pull the plug on the Simpsons, they need to just shoot that stupid Cleveland Show Family Guy knockoff. No one beats Family Guy.

I think it means "don't get those boot treads near me", meaning "you don't get to punish me" or something of that sort.

NSFW for people who tl;dr 'Don't tread on me' explanation/history.

Storytime children, gather round!

Long ago Ben Franklin made a satirical dig at the British's policy of sending convicts to the Colonies. He thought we might thank them by sending them rattlesnakes back to the British.

Then around the time of the Revolutionary War the snake idea was used by a guy named Gadsden in creating a flag for the U.S. Navy to fly while they intercepted British ships. The flag also had the words "Don't Tread on Me" below the snake. This basically was a declaration to the Brits to not tread on the Colony lands/symbolic for don't trample our rights and freedoms.

It's still somewhat commonly used in the States... especially with people who are pissed at the government and/or some pissed off Southerners.

So it makes sense that Bart would see the lulz in specifically using 'Don't Tread on Me' as Aussie being another former colony/still has a hella lot of people from British origin/the whole 'convict' stigma attached to Australia.

So basically Pepper was right I thought I might just expand a little.

If you did read this and already knew all that my bad. I might be misunderstanding the misunderstanding, lol.

tell me why i got a lighter today that has a rattle snake on it that says dont tread on me

awesome! thanks mate :D:D:D

i knew it would have some kind of historic context like that.

Oh man, the Simpsons from around season 4 to 10 was untouchable as the best show around, its fucking shite now, it wasnt The Simpsons it would have been dumped by now.

Trash of the Titans is one of my favourites along with Homer vs New York, the Betty Ford song is wicked.
