The 'quit smoking' thread

Day three here, tough stuff but getting through somehow. Yesterday kinda had a major (fucking major) mood going on for a straight hour - partly to do with the fact that my mates all smoke, which I don't honestly know how to handle. Pisses me off just thinking about it. I think I scared them a bit by the way I was speaking to them for a bit but I calmed down after a pint and a few tokes (of weed!)

ok so i've attempted again..

Went on zyban

Anyone else tried it?

A friend of mine was a smoker for 20 years and went on it and hasn't had a smoke in foure years and has no desire to have one either. He's quite anti smoking actually. He says the tablets cut out the cravings and just 'switch off' in your brain.

He said it was extrodinary!

I'm on my third smoke free day *sigh*

The cravings have gone away quite considerably but i'm still finding the habitual side of it the hardest...

*after dinner
*with coffee in the morning
*waiting for the bus

and i really hate that i'm more hungry now. I have a quit smoking pack and it say that people will put on weight in the first year. I hate that :(

But i'm sick of killing myself and i'm sick of not being ablke to afford something because i smoke (cos they are expensive)

I'm determined in quiiting. It's always that first one that's the hardest to say no to but i'm always going to be saying no

Ok... So I've quit, its only been 2 days but I guess you have to start somewhere!

They say that the first 3 days are the worst... Right now I definately agree with that!

So far I'm still feeling positive. Whenever I get a craving I'll do something with my hands for example I'll wash the dishes, fold my clothes, make some food something to keep me occupied.

I'm still fiending for a cigarette, especially on the way to work in the moring, but I'm gonna try and stick with it this time!!

ive "sort of" quit.

i dont usually smoke on weekdays now...but its just way to hard to do when im drinking on weekends. *sigh*

and on the 4th day she had tequilla ...

and a few ciggies :\

ok so i stuffed up a little bit but i was drinking and it was a party and well i only had a few.

I did have one tonight at mums but as i was smoking it i was saying to myself "i really don't want this smoke, what am i doing?" and wasn't getting out of it what i normally do and it was even making me feel a little sick.

I think i can safely say that will be my last smoke ever. The zyban is working...

I quit 9 years ago. Cold turkey. I used to live in Norway where my ENTIRE surroundings smoke ... family ... friends.. everyone. then, when I left, I just never brought fags with me. Lately ...

Well, I've ALWAYS had trouble when I drink ... I'll buy a pack out, then toss out what's left on the way home so it's not a temptation.

But a couple of weeks ago, I bought a pack to have at breaks at uni ... (so much easier to chat to people outside ... my excuse anyway ...) so now smoking maybe one fag every two days, AND when I'm out.

Does this mean I'm now a "smoker" if someone asks?

I seriously need to quit

My problem is that i went to buy the patches, but it costs $35 and yes i know if you get prescription its cheaper, but you still pay bloody 30 dollers for the dcoter to sign the paper,

Sooooo

Peter styvasants at the deli for $9.60 was a cheaper option.

My ex boyfriend did. It worked a treat for him.
Quitting smoking seems too hard for me, I'm not even going to attempt it. Until I'm pregnant.
But a HUGE congrats to all that have quit!

Medicare dude.. In the end it'll cost you approximately $5 to visit your doctor. I'm sure it's worth your health.

I've been doing this for like 2 months now. My housemate and myself quit together. And told each other everytime we had a smoke. And this corelated to everytime we had a drink. So we made a by-law, to allow for this. And it works for me.

^^I was allowing for that too, but it became pointless as I started drinking a whole lot more than normal.

Back to smoking. :\

Lately cigarettes have been triggering my gag reflex. I choke on them. Normally when something like that happens, it signals my last for the next few hours, or even the whole night. But seeing as it's been happening more lately, I should stop. Or roll thinner smokes, they've been getting fatter lately.

If, after this bag of Drum is finished and I want more, I'm switching to White Ox.

^^ switch to champion. It's the only one that doesn't use slave labour (or so i've been told by several people)

jeez, you pay more for your stuyvies than I do for my Davidoffs.

on that note, I'm saving money, so I'm off _buying_ cigarettes for a few weeks/months. We'll see how long I last :)

Your worried about slave labour when your smoking your health away?

sorry, but I find that rather funny. :\

hey i do what i can and i tend to care about everyone else before me *shrugs* If your not part of the solution your part of the problem, think globally, act locally and all that jazz ;)

go me. i realised the other day i hadnt smoked in over 4 months. i quit the day after boxing day and have only faltered once since.
