The Photography Thread: Double Exposure

^It's a room that normally houses the equipment that's packed away in a box in the garage.

Here is an example of how your picture, were it mine, would've been tweaked CBRoxide.

Subtle but noticeable when placed side by side.
 
Looks alot more vibrant I must say! What kind of things did you do to that one then? Cause I think i've got a copy of CS2 floating around on a CD somewhere, will have to start giving it a go.

I still think film over digital wins. You can crop out all the crap you don't want on digital, and tweak whatever isn't right.

In pure film, you have to frame it right, get everything right, focus it. Takes much more skill.

..Says me that takes pictures on his N96.
 
Too many great pics to mention individually, but loving your long-exposures, Cbrox. Do quite a bit of playing with them myself - can create all kind of interesting effects. Is good fun to try drawing stuff with long exposures - photography = drawing/writing with light :) Bit tricky mind, but always liked these :)

Damien: More amazing pics - you really do have a natural flair for design, colour and compostion. The second one of water droplets is very similar to one of my favourite pics I've ever taken. Was years ago on the first week of my photography course when just playing about - taken on black & white film and the negative are long-since lost sadly though.

Fishy: Mini-Fishy is just outrageously cute :D

In digital photography manipulation news, I've had CS3 kicking about for ages. I really must get around to trying to make better use of it cos it's mostly just used for cropping, resizing and other minor adjustments. Seems such a waste of such a great bit of software. Just so much in there that it's hard to know where to start sometimes... Think I may have to try trawling the tutorials sites :)

PS: Can't beat the smell of a real dark room. Noxious chemical vapours ftw! =D
 
Hey guys never noticed this thread before, some lovely pictures in here. But i have a quick question, i have a Canon EOS 1000 35mm camera (dont like digital really) and was curious about something. You know you get pictures of cars shot at night and they have lights trailing after them, how do you create this effect? Make the shutter speed really slow?

Bit of experimentation with shutter speeds and apertures (oo-er missus 8o) can produce all sorts of interesting effects, Marty. Put your camera on manual and fiddle about with all the settings (best to make a note of what you've set them to so you can repeat the effect) and just play around. Can produce some amazing pics that way. Happy experimentation and be sure to post some of your results :)

Most cameras (I think) attach metadata to the file which shows the information about the shot. In windows you can right click on the image and then go to summary tab and click the advanced button.

Since when has techonology been a bad thing? If you can use a film camera to a certain level you can do even better with digital. Technology moves things forwards.

Sweet! I never knew that. Thanks for the tip, Damien :)

Not quite caught up with this new-fangled digital malarky to be honest. More of a 35mm man myself, but that's just too expensive to be practical these days. Sure I'll catch up with you kool kidz sooner or later though :D
